Confused about receiving a temporary tag when trading in vehicle

Tampa Tesla totally screwed up my vehicle registration - instead of applying for a tag transfer from my traded Tesla - like they were supposed to do - they bought a new tag incurring an additional $200 expense in Fl for the “new wheels fee”. Then they instructed me to go to DMV and fill out forms to correct their mistake!

After a 3 month fight with them, including escalating the issue twice, I finally got the additional charges refunded. The entire Tampa delivery experience was one foul up after another. A total nightmare. Legacy auto dealers are so much better at this

Picked up in West Palm Beach 4/15, got my registration from my transferred tags today in mail. Thanks for link to Florida website, shows car was titled 4/30, so only a few days from title to registration in mail. I wish they could of transferred my HOV registration, but I'll take what I can get.

So sorry yours was challenging!

I picked up my car in Paramus NJ on 4/19. Washed, prepped, 100% charge with temporary tag installed.

They took my signature for the several powers of attorney needed for the DMV and then said my plates would be mailed to me as soon as possible.

Wednesday, 5/1. The plates and the new registration came in the mail. Yee haw - not all Tesla stores suck.

A few things on Florida, even though I got my vehicle registration, I can't get a HOV sticker until the title is processed and that has not happened yet. HOV stickers are also not transferable. If you use the express lanes (95 Express South Florida Commuter Services : Promoting Ride Sharing Options for Commuters in South Florida), you need the HOV sticker registration to get the exception.

How do you know that your title has processed? I'm showing a title issue date but not a title print date.

Not to bloat the forum so I will just ask on this topic: Who do you guys contact to get the temporary tag and will it be mailed automatically without contact anyone? My car will be coming from TX and I have heard several contradiction things about temp tag for home delivery in OK. Initially, my sale advisor said TX service center will be the one provide me with the temp tag and they will send it right after delivery. However, my delivery specialist said that the temp tag won't be send at all and I would have to wait for the actual registration packet. Contacted the gallery number and picked the option 4 for new delivery, the CS people said that the temp tag will not be sent at all due to the law in TX. So basically my car could be sitting in my garage for more than a week and I don't have other vehicle to go to work. If anyone in TX knows more on this, please give me some advice if I can somehow get the temp tag from TX in order to drive before the registration packet arrival.
This is the story I have been getting from my Delivery Specialist for home delivery in New Mexico. Park car, wait 7 - 10 days for self registration package, register car at MVD. I brought up the issue of not being able to test drive the car for longer than the 7 day return period and was told that the registration package is usually out in less that 7 days and that they would work with me on return if required. Thankfully I have a back up ICE vehicle and don't have to commute to work.

It looks like I will finally get my permanent plate!. I complained last week (Wed) because DMV told me Tesla haven't processed my Title/Tag and I was told (by Tesla) they should do it this week. Well last night I got an email from Fedex saying I have a package from Tesla DMV Dania Beach coming today, I checked the FL vehicle information website and still showing Title status "not on file" but today it changed to "Pending Dealer Transaction". My only concert it the website show the color of the car is Black instead of Blue.

I've also been waiting on title & registration for a tag transfer after taking delivery 4 weeks ago in Orlando. My first temp tag expired & I'm on my not-so-temp tag extension which is good for another 30 days. Apparently Tesla changed their process & FL DMV is trying to catch-up / adjust to their changes. Not entirely sure whats going on but I hope they can get it done soonish so I can just pop on my old tag.
