    Headrest icon gone in V11?

Hello Tesla ?!? Looks like the ability to adjust our power headrests, which are only in V1 of the Tesla premium seats. in the Model S is now gone.

Where did the a/c condensers go?

Haven’t studied the M3Y setup. So the AC condenser is in front of (or behind) the coolant radiator for the battery/motor? Airflow is thru these in series? The older MS condenser fans pulled air across the condensers when the louvers were open but mostly thru the center mounted coolant radiator...

Where did the a/c condensers go?

In the pre-refresh MS the AC condensers were located behind the louvers on each side of the lower bumper. I can find no mention of where they are located on the refreshed version. Doesn’t look to be sufficient open area in the narrow slots on the new one.

Question on seats in "Raven" models

I have both a 18 MS 100d with the Tesla premium seats and a 20 MS Long Range with the “new design” seats. Superficially they look about the same. But they are almost completely different. I wrote a detailed reply on this somewhere in this forum but cannot find it now. Maybe you can locate it.

[Poll] Refreshed 2021 Model S: Best Interior Color/Decor?

All of the interiors are black. Different color seat upholstery, half door cards, and lower dash trim isn’t a different color interior. All Tesla’s have black headliner, black dash pad, black steering column, black steering wheel, black carpet, black seat frame covers, black door sills, black...

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

“Make the delivery contingent upon a test drive”. Ha...ha... Locally, absolutely no test drive before buying. Your lucky if they will even let you see the car before buying. They’ll try to insist on doing the “paperwork first”. - then bringing your car around.

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

Best visibility is so outdated and old school - who needs to actually see out of the car anyway?

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

That’s entirely possible - but I the meantime the mirrors haven’t gone away and the quarter window is now blocked.

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

The Its “awesome” until it blocks your view of a child or pedestrian - then it’s not. You need every bit of visibility around the thick A pillars you can get. This just throws away some for no reason other than cost cutting.

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

Video in post #581 misses at least two other notable exterior design changes. Fixed triangular front side window now replaced with a blank filler, and new rocker panel with the lower chrome strip under the doors removed. That makes just about every one of the exterior changes undesirable - for...

Am I the Only One Losing Patience?!

Your build is sitting in Atlanta waiting for a buyer; here it is. I just don’t understand why people “wait” for Tesla’s. There are plenty in stock and ready for immediate purchase. Tesla has to keep up the myth that they “sell all we can build” I guess. 2021 Model S | Tesla

Am I the Only One Losing Patience?!

This one is configured exactly like your order (except fsd which can be turned off and credited). It’s in Fl near here. You can fly to Orlando and drive it home today. Fl to Dallas is a nice Tesla trip I’ve made often.

Am I the Only One Losing Patience?!

There are currently listed 21 new white MS long range cars available in the US. None in Texas right now. But why wouldn’t you consider one of these which you can get right away?

Delivery delay - for Tempest wheels?

The alloys behind the caps aren’t particularly good looking either. The finish is not very refined looking and the narrow lip at the outer rim looks strange. Looks like the plastic caps sit just inside this narrow rim but the wheel is going to look odd when naked.

Delivery delay - for Tempest wheels?

Is that a plastic cap over an alloy wheel? How do you access the lug nuts?

New MS Front Seats (December 2019-)

I would agree. It seem more likely a cost savings measure which Tesla is trying to spin as an improvement. We’ve seen this approach used before. The one piece upholstery on the seat back is much easier to make and the elimination of the power adjustable headrest probably saved a lot. That...

New MS Front Seats (December 2019-)

I have both a 2020 MS with the new seats and a year old MS with the previous ones. The seats look very similar but when carefully studying them they are completely different. The cushion assembly/sewing, frames, plastic base covers, hinge covers, back covers, lumbar adjustment - all different...

    Recommendations for beige/white carpet

Mine are still looking mostly fresh after 12k mikes and 14 months. But I do keep a set of the darker beige Lloyd’s Mats over them. And a rectangular piece of clear styrene plastic taped to the dead pedal area.

    Recommendations for beige/white carpet

The cream interior with the cream carpet and light headliner was the primary reason for my trading an earlier model S for my new one last year. Unfortunately, in October 2019 they discontinued the cream carpet and headliner and replaced it with black. Glad I got one with the much lighter and...

Model S Long Range Plus - 390 miles (Model X upgraded, too)

Where are the lug nuts? Doesn’t even seem to be a cover over them. Maybe this is just a plastic cap over a stamped steel wheel. :)

Question: Beige headliner on 2020 MS?

Last Oct Tesla “Updated” (actually downgraded) the cream interior by removing the cream headliner and cream carpet. Now all Model S get only black headliner and black carpet regardless of interior “color”. Cost cutting measure that just validates the fact that these interiors are substandard for...

    2019 Interior Choices

Cream interior MS got cream carpet and headliner up until mid Oct 19 when Tesla “upgraded’ it to black carpet and black headliner which is current production. So glad I have an earlier car with the lighter carpet and headliner. And even with it, there’s still way too much black in the interior...

    New Thinner More Comfortable Seats

In the pictures at least, the new ones seem to have the non adjustable headrests tilted forward a lot more. Wonder if this could be a potential comfort issue

Does anyone know when they started putting V3 batteries in?

Most all of us spend money on frivolous things. I sure do to. If those features are important to you then it makes sense to pay for them. I would just be careful with CPO cars - especially if you are particular about condition. I tend to put a high priority on finding an extremely well cared...

Does anyone know when they started putting V3 batteries in?

Ahh.... The FSD dream. My experience with both AP 1 and 2 convinces me that FSD is way, way over the horizon. But your current $7k donation to Tesla for FSD might help insure that true level 5 is available by the time your young kids can drive. Or more likely, your grandkids.

Does anyone know when they started putting V3 batteries in?

This 90d near me still has a lot of CPO warrenty, looks really nice, and is $10k less than the Chicago car. And you could inspect and drive it first. Model S / 2016 / Pearl White - d8bb6 | Only Used Tesla edit: actually is $14k less. disclaimer: I have no personal knowledge of the linked car...

Does anyone know when they started putting V3 batteries in?

I do understand. I won’t buy a car w/o doing a careful inspection and test drive first - neither of which Tesla will allow you to do. I’m probably too fussy but only about 1 in 10 used cars I look at would I consider buying. So the odds aren’t good for me with a CPO. Maybe you are less...

Does anyone know when they started putting V3 batteries in?

Sep 17 build date on that one would tend it indicate it was among the last of the 90’s. The 100’s were out by that time. Good chance it would be the latest version of the battery - but no guarantee on that. Personally, I would try to stretch and get a 100. They have been much better (so far)...

1063792-00-A: V1 1071394-00-A: V2 1088792-00-A: V3 These are the part numbers for the 3 versions of the 90kwh battery. You can see these part #’s by looking behind the right front wheel just below the rear of the wheel well
  33. T

Does anyone know when they started putting V3 batteries in?

I know exactly what he’s talking about. There are separate part numbers for the three different versions of the 90 KWH battery. I can find them somewhere. But I do not know the dates they changed.

Delivery in 2 days - thinking to give -up :)

You can see the Milestar tires on many Tesla CPO cars. It’s Tesla cheaping out.
  35. T

New car collection from the delivery center - to clean or not to clean? That is the question....

You won’t be getting a 2020 Tesla built and delivered in 2019.

    Cyclones vs Slipstreams

This is true. Because they look like hubcaps you don’t have to (can’t) clean the inner wheel area. But when this is cleaned, combined with the more open look, Cyclones give the car a really pristine upscale look that Slipstreams can’t match.
  37. T

    Cyclones vs Slipstreams

Yep. My previous MS had Cyclones and my new one Slipstreams. Tried hard to get Tesla to swap wheels (and keep their new tires!) but they refused. Slipstreams look like the plastic hubcaps that are imitating alloys. Cyclones look so much better.

    MCU Yellow Border - Fixed!

Tampa service center fixed mine a couple of days ago. Looks good - so far.

    Black headliner

The cream interior was what prompted me to trade my ‘13 S for a new one. I don’t like black interiors, and even the cream still has lots of black - black steering wheel, steering column, kick panels, door sills, door caps, lower a pillar molding, front seat backs and the entire luggage area...

    FSD price drop to $3000

This is just ridiculous. Elon just recently said FSD was so valuable that you should purchase it now if you want it because the price will only go up - and now price is cut in half?!? Constant flip-flops and changing prices just reeks of a company with no focus and/or desperately trying to...

Extended Warranty - Used Model S bought from 3rd party dealer or private party

I wasn’t “ignoring the policy”! Tesla invited me to purchase the ESA. If anything, Tesla was ignoring their own policy.
  42. T

Extended Warranty - Used Model S bought from 3rd party dealer or private party

The policy may be very clear. But Tesla is very inconsistent in applying it. Tesla invited me to buy the ESA on my previous MS - even though it had passed thru a 3rd party dealer. I bought it and Tesla honored several warranty claims with it. So I sure wouldn’t state with certainty it can’t be...

    Value Advice - Gray 2017 Model S 100D w/ 12,000 miles but no Autopilot

If you want any color other than black/black it can add up to $4000. FSD is $6000. 21” wheels $4500. So a fully loaded car can be $14,500 more than those linked basic cars that were called “fully loaded”. Fully loaded generally implies all, or near all, optional equipment installed. The linked...

    Value Advice - Gray 2017 Model S 100D w/ 12,000 miles but no Autopilot

Linked car is black/black with zero options. Not “loaded” as claimed. And it’s $77200 with delivery fee - not almost $70k as stated.

19" Silver Turbine Wheels - Does it Exist?

The 19” cyclones are Tesla wheels that look similar to the turbines. Pictured here on my previous MS. They have been discontinued for a while now. I pushed to have these swapped onto my new 100d but Tesla wouldn’t do it. Instead I ended up with the slipstreams - which look like unattractive...

    Tesla Production & Profitability

So you would rather Tesla withhold the true inventory? Much like “alternative facts”?
  48. T

    Tesla Production & Profitability

Hank’s point in the above post has been made many times by many different people - yet it still doesn’t seem to register for some folks. Any Tesla sales person, assuming you can find one, can consult their “non-customer facing” inventory list and find hundreds of cars available in locations that...

    Tesla Used Inventory Down 30%?

Unfortunately it doesn’t always work that way for Tesla. They gave me over $37,000 for my used Model S. Let it sit at an auto auction facility for five months. And finally sold it for $31,000. Tesla’s incredibly incompetent re-marketing of their used cars can be very costly to them.

    DEAL or NO DEAL

But you can get a $20,000 discount on a fresh brand new one. One that has not done a few months of show room duty and several thousand miles of full power launches in demonstration drives. Here’s an example:
