Coolant Purges and Top Up?

The M3 LR went into to Tesla Winchester to have the Car Computer replaced.

The invoice (FOC) states:
"Confirmed fault within vehicles car computer, replaced for new, carried out coolant purges and topped up. Firmware installed and vehicle road tested, confirmed all operating as designed".

Why would the coolant circuit need purging and topping up? Unless the car computer is cooled?
Ideas, anyone!
 
Home gaming computers can have something similar. If your problem was in part due to over heating causing it to crash the purge seems sensible. I hope it’s fixed for you, you’ve been very tolerant over a pretty annoying fault that’s dragged on for too long
 
That explains it. For it to need cooling it must get rather hot, or is this more clever tesla energy management, collecting waste heat from the computer to use elsewhere.

Imagine the car in a hot desert climate, left in the sun with the windows closed... with sentry mode running, so the computer is on.

It needs to operate in a wider range of environments than your TV in the living room.

As Tesla found out to their cost with their first gen screens. There was no such thing as an automotive grade screen that size so they bought the best "industrial" grade ones they could find since Tesla were too small/couldn't afford to get something custom made at that point. Turns out the inside of a car in the summer is worse than "industrial" hence the well known yellowing problem.

Surprisingly the electronics/display aspects appear to have been fine with the heat. Apparently it was the adhesive used to glue the display together that was failing due to unsuccessful UV curing which caused the yellowing.

It looks like they've replaced the computer, with it having a coolant loop But no coolant in. The purge will probably be to clear any air/bubbles out of the system and the top up to replace what's been lost in the purge.
