CPO delivery question

Tesla has given us an estimated delivery of 9/22-9/29 for our CPO P85. It has been like pulling teeth trying to get a hold of them for information and now with this push to deliver new inventory, we get the impression we are being pushed to the back of the line.

Our car is coming from a state that requires a front license plate. Our state does not. When we asked our delivery specialist about this, we got the impression it might have holes for the front license plate. This is small but given all the things that are going wrong or hard to find answers to, this might just be the deal breaker on this whole deal.

For months we have read CPO delivery stories to get an idea of what we should expect. After all, we are buying this car sight unseen and Tesla has never followed through and emailed us any pictures. Should we expect the front license plate holes to be fixed?

This sounds fairly consistent to when I took delivery of my CPO last August. I was told that it would take about 2 weeks to prep the car for delivery and to transport it to my nearest SvC. After a while without much communication, this turned out to be exactly correct to the day. I finally received some cell phone pictures of the car a few days after initially requesting them. Likewise, PA also does not require the front license plate, but my nosecone has 5 small holes from where one used to be. This isn't really a huge deal, and bummed me out that I knew they previously swapped them out for owners, but was told they had decided to stop doing that at some point. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask them to do it.

I would expect that with their push to show a profit this quarter, that they'll do whatever they can to make sure that they get your money in hand by September 30.

The front plate will not leave holes that you see. There will be 3 security screws and some tape that needs to be removed. There are a couple of detailed threads on this.

I'm not so sure of this. I watched them drill holes in the front (old) nose cone -- that would leave a mark. They may be small, though.

Regarding the OP concern about timing on the CPO... The service centers are busy (three weeks out for an appointment here), but the car will go through a full evaluation and reconditioning. Some cars don't need much; some will have parts replaced. Mine was stalled in reconditioning because they were waiting on a part from the factory. This was in late-June when I, too, thought they would rush through to get it by the end of the quarter. It was in very good shape when I got it...

there was just a long post in one of the Facebook groups about this. There is a bracket that mounts under the front valance. Then there is an adhesive pad behind the bracket that attaches to the nosecone. Some have just ripped the bracket off the bottom. Others used bent nose pliers to detach the bolts. Then they use heat and a plastic putty knife to remove the pad. I'm in Florida, so I can't comment beyond this. No front plate.

Just my 2 cents...
I put my $1000 down on a 2013 S60 on August 5th, finally came in to sign paperwork on September 8th, only to pick up a loaner for a week while they finished up my car. Picked up my car on September 15th, and have never been more impressed with the level of reconditioning for a 3 year old car. Also the few times that I have had to contact my DS since delivery he almost seems to be waiting for my email he responds so quickly. It IS worth the wait, and they were also willing to not mount a front plate for me (even though I live in California) and said if I change my mind just to bring the car back and they will mount it for me.

Since you say CPO P85, that means an older model with the black nosecone. If the previous owner mounted the front plate, then expect the nosecone to have holes drilled in it. The nosecone is easily replaceable for a few hundred dollars, but don't expect Tesla to provide a new one for you free of charge.

I put my deposit down Aug. 28 for a 2013 P85. It was located in California and I am in Arizona.

I just took delivery Wednesday, September 21. I did a thorough inspection and the only flaw I found was I could feel some scruff marks on the undercarriage in the front of the vehicle. It was in excellent condition and looked brand new. The tires are also brand new.

Tesla does need to work on their communications. I received no updates when it was sent to Fremont for refurbishment or when it was ready to be shipped to Arizona. I had no idea where I was in the process.

The car had about 1K more miles on it that it was listed at. I can only assume they drove it from Fremont to Phoenix rather than having a truck haul it.

I am very pleased with the car, it looks like it is brand spankin' new. I don't have any holes drilled in the nose cone...so I can't address that issue.
