Extended Warranty for Roadsters is offerd on the Tesla site

I received this from someone at Tesla when I asked about CPO warranties. They still have not decided on an extended warranty for existing Roadster owners.

$3,000 – 1 year/12,000 miles

$4,000 – 2 year/24,000 miles

$5,000 – 3 year/36,000 miles

Scroll down to Roadster exteded warranty, you have to buy while car has at least one moth of the original warranty

The CPO page has nothing about a warranty included. It's probably an extra up-charge.

You're correct about that not being on the CPO page, Eric. That's a good point. I think I was recalling what adiggs had said earlier in this thread, but following up on that I see that it is a 1-year, 12,000-mile warranty that can be purchased for $3K. Of course, pretty much every OTHER car company CPO program offers a warranty that comes with the sale of CPO cars.

I suppose there is comfort in knowing that Tesla did an 214-point inspection to make sure the car is in "like-new" condition after any replacements and upgrades, but no warranty leaves me feeling that a CPO isn't much better than a private party car, and especially if you take that PP car to a service center for inspection prior to purchase!

Has anyone confirmed there's no warranty? According to the Wired article a 1 year warranty is included in the CPO price.

I decided that given the lack of clear info on this I'd call to speak with a human. First I called Santa Monica, which is supposed to be open until 6pm. I called at 5:35 and got no answer. Then I called Menlo Park. More of the same. Then Santana Row. They are advertised to be open until 9pm. Happily, someone answered the phone, and I spoke with a salesperson who told me that the CPO Roadsters *sometimes* come with a warranty. When I pressed further he said that the car will basically have the remaining warranty on the car if it is still under warranty, or it would carry the extended warranty if it was purchased by the original owner. And an extended warranty is available as well, for a price. But he said there are also exceptions, and the best thing to do is to make an appointment and come down and talk about it with their CPO specialist, who primarily works out of the Menlo Park store.
