Deer Warning?

...AP1...

I use Autopilot almost all the time and it's very helpful but I do not rely on it because it's hit and miss.

With the first Autopilot death, it was explained that AP1 was meant to detect traffic moving in the same direction so cross-traffic was not its expertise. So, I wouldn't be surprised by this deer because it didn't comply with same-direction traffic protocol but it practiced cross-traffic!

With AP2, we still got fatal Autopilot crashes so I am not sure it would reliably detect this deer either.

Sure, there are claims that Autopilot can swerve out-of-lane to save a flock of walking ducks and other scenarios but I wouldn't count on those claims until Autopilot can be tested out by the professionals for repeatability and reliability.
