Delivery Experience - 9/29 at the Fremont Delivery Hub

After a lot of stress and excitement, we finally took delivery of our MX. Yes, Fremont delivery hub was super crazy. Our appointment time was 1:45pm and we didn’t leave till nearly 5pm. It wasn’t an awful experience. I think I was prepared and levelset my expectations, so in the end, I was pleasantly surprised.

After we checked in, our delivery specialist texted us within 20 minutes. By then, I already bought a couple of t-shirts and hats. Also, I found my MX while waiting for him because it was parked right outside of the waiting area. The car wasn’t locked, so we just got inside and explored. It was actually very exciting to see so many new Tesla owners and for the most part, everyone had a smile on their faces. I did overhear a few complaints about the wait.

We waited too, but we took the time to inspect the car, play with the controls, customize our settings, took photos, update Facebook and enjoyed the free yummy food that Tesla brought in. They had different food trucks - Tesla provided lunch and a very good ice cream truck (with great flavor choices) along with ice cold bottled water.

Our DS is an engineer who volunteered his time to come help out the EOQ delivery. We were very appreciative of his help, going back and forth to stay on the paperwork team. He kept us posted many times during the afternoon. At one point, he did come and say that the paperwork was messed up and they needed to collect an extra $5.6k. It was a bit shocking, but I collected myself and ran the numbers with him to show him that their calculations were wrong. He went back and corrected the error.

The MX wasn’t perfect. Mostly comestic paint issues that I expect will be fixed in the near future. We noticed a few spots on the car where the paint is still wet. They’re located near the seam areas so you can’t really see it unless you do a close inspection. One thing that isn’t ok for me is there’s a chip on the driver side window. The window will need to be replaced. The 6-seat center console has discolored spot on it (about 3 inch in size) and will need to be addressed.

I already have been to the supercharger twice - when we left the delivery hub, we stopped by the Fremont factory supercharger and later that night to a supercharger near my home as I had a longer drive to get to the airport the next day.

Too bad I have to leave the MX today to go on a trip for the next 4 days. It’s now sitting at the airport parking lot (covered, of course ...

I’ll post photos in a bit, on the plane and wifi is limited.
