Delivery question Costa Mesa, CA

Asking for those who picked up MY in Costa Mesa CA recently. Tesla scheduled me to pick up finally in Costa Mesa this week. However, I am not currently near Costa mesa due to work is it possible for me to have my brother pick up the car for me? Im just afraid if I don’t take delivery this week they will most likely assign my MY to someone else. How does costa mesa delivery process works? Is it contactless where I can just ship my phone out to my brother and he can have access to the car using the app? Very frustrating
 
I picked mine up at the Costa Mesa location 2 weeks ago. Only the name that appears in your MVPA or title can pick up the car for security purposes. I got there, showed them my ID/driver's license, they showed me where my car was, and I was walking towards it, my car appeared in my Tesla app.

Besides, you'll need to physically sign some final documentation and hand it to them prior to leaving.

Brea / Buena Park (whichever) is closer to me but I wanted to goto a delivery center specifically.

With the weather I picked Costa Mesa as it looked to be inside unlike Marina Del Rey. With CV though they were only doing outside. also there was so many people picking up cars even though they have scheduled times; so many people arrived early (or late) we had to park 3 blocks away. My car was 5 ft was street though. I would have picked Marina Del Rey again if I knew what Costa Mesa was going to be like during CV.

I wanted to pick it up on weekdays to avoid crowd but latest I could push my delivery schedule to was this coming saturday. So whats the procedure like once you get there? I believe pick up location is outside the Tesla collision side on pullman st? Do you have to go inside to check in with someone or theres someone waiting outside? Ive seen some tesla contactless delivery videos on youtube it looked like theres zero human involved during delivery. Just walk up to your car, open using your tesla app, fill out forms inside fedex envelope and drop it off thats it? I hope not too many issues with the car, fingers crossed. btw car was built on June 27th according to the delivery specialist

Your new Tesla is READY TO BE PICKED UP! We are excited to make your delivery experience as seamless as possible. Once your car is ready, you will receive a text message informing you your vehicle is ready to be picked up at our Costa Mesa Sales and Delivery Center. The text message will also include where your car is parked (space number) and onsite instructions. Only after receiving this text message should you arrive at the delivery center. Please DO NOT arrive on location until you received the text message. Failure to receive the text message and arriving at the delivery center will result in an unknown wait time. No one on-site at delivery or showroom will be able to assist you. Your vehicle is projected to be ready June 13th .

Please reply ‘CONFIRM’ with your Reservation Number (ex. RN123456789), once the action items listed below have been completed and we will contact you 24 hours prior to delivery day to finalize your appointment time.

This unique delivery experience will be completely without human interaction. If you are unable to pick-up your vehicle within 7 days from delivery date, the car attached to your account will be released. We will enable a hold on your account which will make you eligible to have a new vehicle assigned to you on August 1st. Based on vehicle production, we anticipate your new delivery to take place in September.

To ensure your pick-up is not postponed or cancelled, please complete the below tasks:

In Advance of Your Delivery:

SIGN DOCUMENTS AND SUBMIT PAYMENT VIA YOUR TESLA ACCOUNT:

Prior to pick-up, please be sure to log into your Tesla account and complete the following. (This information will be visible on your Tesla account 24-hours prior to your scheduled date):

· Upload your proof of insurance where indicated (if not completed already)

· Electronically sign your financial contract (Tesla Leasing/Tesla Lending – ONLY). Please make sure your CO-SIGNER (if applicable to you) checks their email and signs as well.

· Submit payment via ACH in MyTesla or Wire Transfer

· Third Party Lending – We require a copy of the check AND tracking number sent to this email in order to confirm your appointment if you do not physically have it by day of delivery.

Before your appointment, download the Tesla app to access our video tutorials and support resources. Your Tesla will automatically pair to the app once your vehicle is ready for pick-up.

PICKING UP YOUR TESLA:

You will receive step by step instructions via email and SMS on the day of delivery. Your Tesla will be available for pick-up onsite, you may head straight to your vehicle by your appointment time. There will not be any staff members present onsite to assist with your pick-up. This is to ensure the safety of our customers and employees to help fight against COVID-19. The vehicle will be unlocked with your documents inside ready for you to sign. Please find your new car parked in the on the map below in Green.

You will be required to pick-up your vehicle immediately upon arrival. Due to our high volume, we need to clear all spaces for incoming customers. Please perform any inspections at the comfort of your home. Any service concerns can be addressed and uploaded through your mobile app within 12-hours of your pick-up.

SIGNATURES NEEDED:

Your Tesla will have time sensitive Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) documents inside. These documents will be highlighted where signatures are required. Please sign ONLY where indicated, in BLACK or BLUE ink*. Please drop off signed documents on our garage desk.


VEHICLE KEYS:

While your phone is intended to be the primary key for your Tesla, we also provide you with 2 keys which will be given to you after documents have been dropped off on our garage desk. Your Tesla Mobile App will allow you to set-up your phone as a key after you have accepted delivery.

Besides parking so far away (and my personal inspection that I checked EVERYTHING) the remaining process was under 10 min. Car was right next to street.

There are plenty of checklist out there. Don’t have links but you should be able to find easily.

Check that all doors, trunk, frunk, open and close fine.

Windows, AC, radio work.

Fit of body panels and all glass are good.

Paint. Closely check for circles on frunk from angles, paint drops, chips, scratches, paint in door jams.

Charger in trunk. Front plate mount included, was attached, unlike Marina Del Rey, which I DIDN’T want as I had vinyl plate sticker (California) instead of actual plate for car already.

Etc.
 
When I picked up on 6/26, all Costa Mesa Model Y deliveries were being done at their off-site staging lot in Irvine. It's in a business park at the top of a parking structure. They'll text you the address the morning of your delivery. I also saw some Model 3's being staged for delivery too. They did have staff there to check you in, guide you to the car, and there was also a detailer there to clean-up any easy smudges/dirt.

Paperwork is on a clipboard in the car and you have plenty of time to review the car. Only problem is in a parking structure, there's no direct sunlight. Once you're done, sign the paperwork, give it to the Tesla employee, and then you leave.
