Okay, so I ordered my M3 LR in October 2021 and got it Dec 10th (woohoo) But there was a few items missing from the software, I didn't have the live Sentry mode camera view on my phone and a handful of other things seemed missing. Well, I got my first software update this AM and that has all been corrected -- Slightly odd that it didn't ship with that, but maybe it required camera calibration to have it? No clue -- but just sharing.

I’m ready to place an order for my Model 3. However I have heard rumors/read threads that talk about how the end of quarter quality decreases (more than normal) as they rush to produce cars.

I am in no rush to take delivery so here is my question:

Is it better to order now and take advantage of their “free supercharging for one year” special (end of year special)

Or

wait till early 2021 for a vehicle that’s hopefully not hastily put together.

Just put in an order and since you're in no rush, you'll get it when you get it. The whole end of Q1 / Q2 thing is honestly an out dated recommendation. Tesla is moving to ignore that all together. Although, I would think it might take a year or so to get everyone on the same page with it. But Elon has said more than once "We're going to act like end of year and end of quarter does not exists and do what's best for production / our customers"

With all that said, just put in an order, there will always be some reason to hold off just a little longer since they make so many in year updates.

My vote would be to put in an order now, get it when you get it, and enjoy the car!
Honestly ordering at the start of the Q might be the best time (if they are rushing production at the end of the Q) because that means your car wont be built / rushed to you. And will go through all the Q/A.

Correct. Tesla is not run by MBA bean counters.

Picked up my M3 this weekend. No issues with panels, etc. Noticed grey marks on the trim between the doors and assumed it would wipe off with the thought it was probably just dirty or dust. Appears to be scratched on both driver and passenger side door. Anybody else have this issue? I think the door might be rubbing against the trim.

Picked up my M3 2022 RWD last week, no issues except missing USB Ports and no wifi charging. Put in a mobile service request through the app, they came down and fixed it 3 days later. Only took them about 15 mins at most.

Honestly, I'm really happy with everything so far

Picked up my M3P from Irvine.
I had a flaired edge on front bumper by passenger headlight (sa advised he could fix maybe or get a new bumper and it’s honestly barely noticeable so will see) Wrinkled leather. Messes up trim in the interior, and a fogged up fog light.

All in all car was in the shape I expected it to be in.

It was pouring rain. I had my small daughter with me. They wouldn’t let me check it out inside their giant empty service center. I couldn’t look inside. So rather than stand in the pouring rain with my kid I just accepted the delivery. Kinda lame experience but car is in decent enough shape to not cause me any problems that aren’t fixeable.Trunk panel gaps seem reasonable.

I took delivery in the rain yesterday and it’s still very overcast. Does the rear driver side door look a bit darker? When I shined a light on the both the looked the same. This paint seems to change color in ever light so I can’t tell.

It does seem to be a bit off looking at the side profile but hard to say from photos. I'd get a second eye from some people in person. Between different cameras and quality during upload I can't say with full confidence. Been in the design industry for 20 years and have a good eye but don't want to give you the wrong answer.

Guess it couldn't hurt to just stop by Tesla also later. They have had quality control issues in that area. Typically its overspray though.

Looks better in the daylight and after a wash.

While I’m dealing with a “possible” paint issue. I’ve noticed some red model 3’s have this illusion of lighter front doors when’s compared to the rear. Is this just paint “flop” or is this an issue that needs addressing. My car looks similar. Very noticeable in cloudy weather. Not so noticeable during sunny conditions.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had these issues.

I took delivery of my M3LR two weeks ago. The driver's side glass was so hilariously distorted across the entire window that the dealership rep was shocked. Full-on funhouse mirror levels of distortion. The next day, I noticed my windshield was totally warped as well, with streaks and dimples across nearly the entire thing.

The driver's side glass got replaced for free. The funhouse mirror effect disappeared, but the last 30% of the window near the mirrors still produced bad distortion. I got it replaced AGAIN. It's marginally better I guess, but still extremely noticeable. Now there's a ton more road noise.

Windshield got replaced and is significantly improved, but still somewhat distorted right in my field of view. There's ripples on both sides that you can't see straight on, only while turning.

...Is this normal? I can probably learn to live with the windshield, but the side window bulges out so bad things get really distorted while turning. Based on the digging I've done in this forum, it seems like it may not be worth it to roll the dice on replacing any more glass. Shocked at how bad the QC is thus far. Any insight is appreciated.

I hope your delivery went well.
Thanks, it did!! Sort of.... Car was in excellent shape with no issues, USB ports intact, no gaps etc. Stupid issue was Service Center dude couldn't find the car which was parked so tight in the back of the lot, we could only open the doors part way. Very disappointing since it was the first time wife would see one (ours!) and they didn't have our name on it all nice and shiny up front with the others. This car is so fun & truly awesome!

Never heard of or read of anyone having similar issues...

My side glass is fine but I had my windshield replaced for similar waviness when turning - you notice it because of the lateral movement of the background when turning. The new glass is better but not 100%. While I was waiting for my car, I walked the lot in the SC peering into other cars - they are all like that.
