Does 2021 Model S share rear view mirror with any other Teslas?

Looking to get a Radar detector mount and just wondering if the rear view mirror is the same as any other Tesla, perhaps the Model 3? Or is this a brand new one?

If anyone's had luck mounting a Uniden R7 to your 2021 Model S rearview mirror, please let me know!

I’ve got a 2021 Model S Plaid and working on the radar detector install. I think the blend mount will work but you will lose a bit of adjustment on the rearview mirror. I’m using the Blendmount BMG-2021.
My issue is that I’m not sure where to get the 12V power from - the wire harness on the backside of the mirror is different from the previous Model S - no 12V power that I can see.
If you’ve found a solution please share.
Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian, that’s awesome. Is that Mount designed for the pre-refresh Model S? Or is that the Model X one?

For my new Model Y, I took it to a shop and they spent 30 mins looking for a 12V accessory. They found one in the driver kick and I suspect there would be one in the new S driver kick as well.

I’m actually using the Blendmount from my 2020 Macan. It’s the BMG-2021 - it looks to be slightly different from the model X mount. I talked to the folks at Blendmount and the issue with the refreshed Model S is that the mirror mount in tapered which causes the Blendmount to slide down the taper when tightening - I was able to get it snugged up so hopefully it will hold. I’m not sure if the M3 and MX have the tapered post. The folks at Blendmount are great so I wouldn’t hesitate to give them a call.

Thanks for the info on the power - I’ll be digging in there this week.

Gotcha, I tried reaching out to them and asked for recommendations on mounts that might fit the new Model S (with modifications) and they didn't know. They told me to reach out on the forums and see what other people are doing. I'm unsure which blendmount to try.

If your running an Escort with the magnetic mount I think you would be safe to try the BMG-2021. I’d order it through Amazon in case you want to return it. Ordered one for a Camry last week and it got here the next day. Good luck - please keep us posted here. I’ll do the same when I get the power figured out. I just ordered a trim removal tool set from Amazon to help run the power line.

I'm running a Uniden R7. I'll try ordering a Macan 2020 Uniden version and the Model X and see which one fits best, then modify it to fit. Still waiting on my S to arrive though, should be soon since i've had my VIN for a week.
