Does Replacing 3G Modem with 4G/LTE Affect Radio?

I had heard that replacing the 3G modem, which will be necessary by the end of the year, with a 4G/LTE modem somehow kills the radio. I see that this is true with the infotainment upgrade, but don't see any such problem mentioned by those who have already done the switch. I'd like to hear from early adopters who have already replaced the 3G modem if there was a change to the radio. Thanks

No it does not kill the radio. I had this done a few months ago for the cost of the parts while the eMMC was being repaired under warranty. Order your LTE modem prior to scheduling service, which should be about $109 with tax ($85 for card (1054968), $18 for the SIM card (1035347), $3.60 for a coax cable (1010854), $2.40 for 12 Torx T25 screws (1010058) and $0.45 for 3 T10 torx screws (1010052).

Thanks--had it done a few weeks back and no problems. My wife's 2012 S is still amazing, though we had a 2018 or so Mod 3 loaner--pretty impressive, though I didn't want to mess around with the self-driving features.
