In order to really compete as in the "mass market" SUV catagory, it pretty much comes down to dogs, kids, and bikes.
Dogs: Model Y should be more practical than the 3, as you should be able to easily keep a dog in back and leave the passenger seats open.
Kids: The 3rd row is really for kids, not adults - but will the 3rd row fit car seats (forward or rear-facing)? Parents want to be able to take the grandparents and the kids all in one car. Or shuttle around 4-5 kids for events.
Bikes: Does it have a 2000 lb tow hitch for a bike rack or other lightweight rec equipment? Also key - they small SUV isn't trying to be a major hauler but should be able to carry something.
