Door handle sensor

I searched for this but couldn't find an answer. I took the driver's door handle off to repair the loose weather shield. I found the wires from the sensor, the one under the large bolt head, had been ripped out. I attempted to resolder them, but failed.
My questions are : what is the sensor? I'm assuming it's a proximity sensor to recognise the key. Also, if I replace it with a second hand sensor, will it require calibration by Tesla?

I think it might be a broken pressure sensor. All the other handles move when I press them. It's the silver horseshoe shaped thing

Prox Sensor is in the side panel of the dashboard inside the door. Maybe that's the touch sensor? Sorry I can't answer your other questions.

Thanks for your replies. I bought a handle on ebay. I'll use the sensor from that.

I swapped the sensor. The handle now responds to touching.

And where did you find only the sensor ???

It's in the centre of the handle assembly, under a large silver bolt. The bolt that controls the outer handle levelness to the door.

Sorry, I don't know. I expect Tesla only sells complete handles.
