Door Handle Soft Return Not Working - Anyone tried to repair?

I haven't found anything about this particular issue- my front left and rear right exterior door handles don't have soft return- IE when you pull the handle out and let it go it clunks back into the door very hard. The right front and left rear door handles work as designed- when you pull the handle and release it, it softly/slowly returns to it's slot in the door.

Has anyone been successful repairing these or do they have to be replaced?

I vaguely recall, few years ago, someone had to go to a service center, and there's a piece that fell out of the door return mechanism. That piece was down by the bottom of the inner door trim, when you remove it. If you're in warranty, then take it to a SC. If you're not, you can try removing the inner door trim, and seeing if there's a piece that fell out, and put it back. There may even be youtube videos on it.
