easy and free door handle fix tesla s

hi there just wanted to share with you guys here my experiance driver side handle.

everything started on trafic light i was waiting for green ,it was very long red light so i put tesla in Park position.
after that door was opened by it self surprisingly i closed it and continue drive to the plaza.

after few minutes doing quick shopping on the way back i saw door driver side were open alarm didnt go off.??????

after that i have notice that handle was overpresenting impossible to open from outside.

first solution

select on screen power off and handle will reset and we were able to use it again.but that didnt eliminate problem.

after t5hat we went to our garage and start folowing procedure for removing door handle.

lower window down
10 mm wrench used to get hidden bolt
door panel 10mm on handle and 9 mm on the latch screw that were removed T 30
PULL SPEAKER PROTECTIVE cover
than remove door panel watch for clips and 4 connectors removed botom light side light ,ambient light, master switch, release door latch cable
put window up before remove master switch connector
metal cover 5 screws aluminum
push gourmet with cable thrue the panel
10mm 4 nuts to remove handle
watch for window dont damage it
than t[we use screwdriver to flip latch on door and raise window 2 incheslatchlatchlatch
AFTER THIS STEP NEVER TRY TO CLOSE DOOR WITH WINDOW ALL THE WAY UP.IT WILL BRAKE IF YOU TRY TO CLOSE DOOR
remove clips from door cavity holding wiring harness
tape chrome handle with painter tape to prevent any scratches
remove 3 nuts 10 mm using magnetic socket and remove door handle

door handle back plate 1008 982 LH
door handle micro switch A16l0013 197

just in case if anybody needs part

remeber there are 4 diferent door handles model s
gen 1 have ribon cable
gen2 no ribon cable (ours)
gen 3 no micro switch wires
gen4 didnt see how it looks like

gen1 and 2 no programming needed

gen3 and 4 i thing programming needed

after disassembling door handle we noticed that one of the wires close to microswitch was damaged
paddle gear was ok and in good shape

so instead to order new door kit we just strip protective rubber on bottom of micro switch and solder wires on the connectore than isolated and put them back
rerouted som,e of the cables just to protect them for water damage

than we heated up butyl gasket on back cover seal everything and put handle back .here is minor inconvenience you have to know how to put handle to be in level and doesnt scratches door finish

BESIDE THAT WE CUT WIRE FROM LED LIGHT AND SOLDER NEW AND IT WAS FINALLY WORKING .nice feature when you open door night time show you location on handle and nice reflective light


SO BOTTOM LINE TESLA DID IMPROVEMENT ON THOSE HANDLES MANY TIMES BUT HEY IT S ESY TO FIX THEM.AND KITS ARE AVAILABLE ON ANY WEB SITE EVEN TESLA DEALER.

Just be carefull when feeding lock cable thru back panel to not unlatch at door lock .and route all wires harnes away from window .if dont do properly window will slide down and brake all wires.
Just like small side note.

one more side note blk back plate is so fragile that we got brocken at end but if you use just small washer it will be ok .because that part is about $70.00 at dealer or about $50.00 used on line ebay .o

it was a lot of fun replacing this so on summer time we will do rest of door handle just to make sure wires are ok

programming not needed because this was gen2 handle
