Germany is also firing up previously decommissioned coal-fired power stations apparently. If the sanctions on Russia (which are hurting the west a lot more than Russia) can put paid to the climate hoax for a while, then the lives lost in Ukraine, as terrible as they are, will not have been lost in vain.

Depending on how energetic and leaky the distribution of natural gas is, running coal plants can be no worse than or better than NG for CO2e emissions. So, I'm not really concerned about it. What matters more is what they're doing for adding renewable capacity.

There are still other tightening of standards to come in that could lead to a de facto ban.

They did delay the ban but put much more strict emissions standards in place from 2030. These new strict standards will be difficult or impossible to meet thus actually moving the ICE ban up to 2030.
