Effort to Unionize closer to succeeding in 2024.

With the 1Q 2024 push to reduce workforce numbers and especially the surprise firing and disintegration of Tesla's "crown jewel" Super Charger team, the workforce know they can be fired at any moment for any reason, including by actions of someone else they might not even know.

With that axe hanging over all the employees neck, it is not a stretch to think most of the employees are seriously contemplating to support Unionization, at least from job protection point of view.
This is not the first time Elon announced a change, only to moderate or even reverse course a few days later. Imposing a few day pause on an action may be highly desirable for Elon to reconsider what is being done.

Of course this is speculation on my part, but I am certain Shawn Fain is thinking exact same thing, taking advantage of the FUD chaos.

@Yelobird Do you disagree or do you not like the prospect of Tesla becoming a Union shop?

Unions are created by employee dissatisfaction with management, and the surprise firing of the best and most important division of Tesla is exactly the kind of catalyst that leads to Unionization.
One of the Union powers is required 2 weeks of work after a notice of termination, which is given Elon's history of erratic management will actually be good for Tesla (unless Elon is no longer CEO).
