EV Incentives

In any case, many of the EV drivers actually would prefer that chargers be located in the back of the lot or somewhere else desirable.

Exactly! Stores want them in the front for marketing reasons and we want them far away so ICEs don't park in them, assuming they won't get a ticket, since it's not a handicapped spot.

I think the tax credits should not be increased. 7.5k is a good amount - that helped Nissan price Leaf at the same level as Prius.

What would really help EVs is to get the infrastructure going. We can get one fast charge station every 15 miles in the US for less money than what was being spent on the ethanol subsidy every year.

That is what will really support EVs compared to a 2.5k increase in tax credits which becomes a political target.

Chelsea favors rebate on just the lower end Teslas.

... Sexton is supportive of President Obama’s proposal (in his 2012 budget request) to expand the current $7,500 income tax credit, and make it payable at the time of purchase, but she doesn’t think upping the top amount to $10,000, as Obama proposed, is a priority.
Instead, Sexton has some common-sense ideas: ... cut off rebates above a certain price point ($65,000 perhaps),

Looooove this !!!..
exclude tiny “compliance” car programs from federal credits (partly through volume minimums for manufacturers with no lease-only deals). They’d howl like stuck cats if you took the latter step, but it would certainly encourage larger-volume production.

Tesla-Chef Elon Musk im Interview - Frontal 21 - ZDFmediathek - ZDF Mediathek

interview with Elon Musk on TESLA Elon is complaining that Germany is not giving tax incentives on ev cars.

There are following tax incentives in Germany:

First:
The owner of an ev car (either private or business car given by the employer) doesn't have to pay "KFZ-Steuer" for ten years, if the car is bought prior to 31.12.2015. This tax can easily be 500 Euros per year for the class of Model S or equivalent.

Second:

Use of Model S as an business car

The starting price for an car would be for example 70000 Euros.
Your employer buys the car and the employee uses the car as an business car.
The employee has to pay tax on 1 percent of 70000/month means taxes on 700 euros.
Driving an ev car as an business car 500 euros per kwh/maximum 10000 euros are deducted from the price of the car.
This means that you are only paying a tax on 600 euros per month instead of a tax on 700 euros per month.
