I like Chateauroux SC next door to Relais St Jacques. But that might be too far west for your route.

I have the same requirement in the future, waiting for my M3LR to be delivered. Have been doing some research in advance.
It seems that many Auchan Hypemarkets offer free charging. If you don't mind industrial estate hotels, you could look for a hotel near one of their stores.

Here is one idea. Auchan St Quentin. Walking distance from a Brit hotel.
Bang on the route, but not far enough into France to be ideally located. Not checked if that Auchan has free charging.

Chalon was a bit crowded when we visited in two weeks ago. Had to share so charging was slow.
There's a destination charger at Champagne Bergere here in Epernay. We called to ask if it was available and they couldn't tell us if we could use it the next day as it was reserved for clients. Does buying a bottle make you a client? A case? A t-shirt?
