FSD hardware

If one were to buy a new Tesla without the FSD option with plans to upgrade later, does the car still come with the new FSD neural net computer installed? Can one upgrade to the FSD with a simple software update or would a hardware upgrade of the FSD computer be required?

When you buy FSD, the computer will be installed when it is needed. But new cars will have the computer.
