Had the problem while on a trip. There is a little too much binding with the linkage and the strikers don't return far enough to retain the door.
I popped off the little triangular cover plate on the end of the dash. Through one of the holes you can feel the linkage that moves the striker. I got a piece of rather firm foam and stuffed it between the linkage and dash end plate near the access hole. This keeps pressure on the linkage and returns the striker to retain the cover. Not a permanent solution but good till I can get a proper fix.
