GTA PPF question

hi all, i saw an older thread about PPF install in the GTA with a couple of quotes. I also saw a few review. I'm curious which installer is preferred? I'm near the GTA, so i'm open to options. My car is a daily driver and i clock in around 200km/day 3-4days a week. I saw Ceramic Pro and Get Detailed.

You should try reaching out to Jay at Westside Detailing (formerly known as MobilePro Detailing) in Oakville.

He wrapped my entire car with XPEL Ultimate (including interior center console for free) and also got it ceramic coated. He's extremely professional, and would recommend him. His prices are very reasonable as well, and they are XPEL authorized installers, so your install would be warrantied.

I used a place in Scarborough as I work in the GTA but would not recommend them!

I've since hooked up with Chris Funkenhauser at Funken Auto Spa (Funken Auto Spa) in Guelph ( who is a bit of a local legend but I don't think he does PPF, just tinting and paint correction/ceramic coating. He says Niko signs in Kitchener does good work (NIKO Signs & GraFX, 636 Colby Drive, Unit#5, Waterloo, ON (2019)) and for the GTA he likes Brooks at Top Gear in Vaughan for PPF. (Top Gear Wraps – Vaughan Wraps)

I've seen old classic vehicles Chris has restored and they are a work of art. Museum quality.

If I were to do it all over again, I think I'd get a full wrap instead of just the full front that I got and then I'd ceramic coat it myself and would also paint correct it myself prior to the wrap as soon as I got it home.

That way you will become aware of any paint issues immediately and potentially have Tesla remedy with no ability for them to point fingers at other causes.

i've heard of the one in kitchener, but am worried about people who arent on the certified list for xpel.

For me it was $4300 (+ tax), which at the time was the cheapest quote I had (since he had matched the quote of another place, and even reduced it). Though, being cheaper did not mean his skill in applying the film was lacking, it was actually done very well. I also got Opti Coat Pro applied at the same time for $650. These were prices from last year May, so they may have changed slightly now. Though I'd give Jay a call at the number I provided in my previous post, and compare it with other quotes and see how it fares. And you can't really go wrong with going with an XPEL certified shop.

Edit:
Here’s a picture of my car after being detailed recently by them.

Looks phenomenal. Which rims do you have, Zirak?

Zirak, how's the PPF and ceramic coating holding up? I've been shopping around and have quotes from a couple authorized XPEL installers and the quotes differ by up to $2000.

It's holding up really well, I've neglected it to wash it (washed it once every two or so weeks). Going to do a thorough wash this weekend and I'll share some new pics then.

I had mine done at Elegant Motoring & Protection Center. These guys are absolutely amazing. I've had many vehicles protected in the past with ceramic coatings (Opti-Coat, Modesta) and PPF (3M Pro Series, Suntek). Each time I did my research and visited multiple shops to figure out who would provide me, not only the best work but the best value. I can say shops in the GTA have definitely improved their appearances in most cases. In the end this doesn't dictate the skill though.

A day or so after I took delivery of my Model 3, I happened to bump into a fellow at the Sherway Gardens charging stations. He actually recommended I should check out Elegant Motoring and speak with Dave or Greg. They were the guys that did his car and a year later it looked flawless. Since the shop wasn't far I stopped in when I left Sherway. I met Dave and started talking with him about how I could protect my Model 3 and what the pricing would be. He actually walked me through everything. He explained that pricing can very depending on what was done to prep for the installation and how the film was installed, bulk or kit. He went on to walk me through the process. Explaining to me along the way where the price can very and why. Apparently many shops will do a basic install using pre-cut kits. This is the cheapest, easiest way to have PPF installed. In most shops your car is cleaned, clay bared (if your lucky) and the film is applied. He described in his shop they do a three stage decontamination on the entire car, followed by a light paint correction to remove and oxidation in the clear coat prior to installing any Paint Protection Film. This way you get the best gloss and color on your finished product. He uses a hybrid pre-cut kit to achieve the best install value. Basically he removes emblems, side cameras, etc before applying the film. He deletes these cut outs from the kit and custom cuts them once the film is applied. This way there are no gaps around the edges of the emblems, side markers, cameras, etc. It's cheaper if you don't have this done. He also wraps around all of the edges (where applicable) to achieve the best possible install. In the end the film is pretty much invisible.

All of these extras obviously take additional time. This is why the price can very so much. It totally depends what the shop in doing. As an example just the paint correction can take and extra half day to a day. In many cases the shops don't have the skill set to do proper paint correction or skill set to disassemble the vehicles in varying degrees for the prep. They employ Certified PPF & Tint Specialists, Certified Paint Correction & Ceramic Coating Specialists, as well a Licensed Mechanic and a Bodyman for disassembling & assembling the vehicles in vary degrees depending on what was being done to them. It was remarkable to walk in to his shop and see this in action. When I was there they had a S63 Mercedes and a Bentley Bentagya completely disassembled to do a full color change vinyl wrap on them. They also had other cars in as well getting ceramic coatings & PPF.

I paid the higher end of the scale but also got the works. I got Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection installed on the full body. I also had the new Xpel Ultimate 7 interior film applied to my center console (Model 3) to protect the black piano finish. I then had them apply Ceramic Pro on everything including the wheels & calipers. I had the option of using the Ceramic Pro Glass coating or the Feynlab Glass Coating. I chose the Feynlab.

In the end It was the best work I've had done to date. I can say without hesitation I was thoroughly impressed with the shop and ecstatic about the quality of work and professionalism. I can say the site needs improvement as it doesn't full communicate what they do. However if you want their contact check out www.elegantmotoring.ca

If you are in the East End I suggest https://velocityperformance.ca/ for Ceramic (Pickering). They did some amazing paint correction and a few coats of Ceramic Pro. Looked better than new when it was done. I wasn’t interested in the wheels being done as they are my winter 19 inch replicas but I am glad they did then and everything else as it always looks 97% just washed after driving in the rain (other than my stupid tail light condensation). The snow basically just glides/falls off the car now with little to zero effort).
