Gyeon leather shield - smoke while applying?!

Well obviously Tesla do not use leather on their upholstery - so there is that.
But on the brochure I found for that product you mention, it does say:
  • You may apply the product on high quality artificial leather
And I did find mention of it being ok on other surfaces:
  • Works on both natural and man-made leather furniture and interiors.
So hopefully, it wont actually damage the covering.
Smoke implies burning, fire and melting.
Was it just steam - is it just drying?
