Here's the million dollar question: where's the promised 35k

As for the comments on my freedom of speech blurb, be it either the Canadian Charter of rights or the US Constitution, i do have it. I wouldnt have it, if i were on a Chinese or Korean internet connection.
Maybe Elon should consider that, when he denies a miltary person a special discount because pretty well every other carmaker does.

The million dollar question is: who actually physically have a SR with clothe seats. If they do I'd like to see pics. The only pic I saw of a cloth seats , is a front seat pic and it looks a photo rendition and not an actual car.

I believe it never existed and this was a tactic to upsell and to please the ppl that said he couldn't make a 35k EV. So unless I see pics, he didn't full fill the promise and it was all bs.
I could only imagine if he got called on it, consumer confidence would go down.

OP, your posts make absolutely no sense. If I didn't know any better, I would say you are just trolling to make waves. Are you sure your real reason isn't to try and sway people from buying an electric car? I wonder how many people in the ICE world complain when the manufacturer adds upgrades for free?

But back to your string of posts. So you want to see a picture of cloth seats as proof that the 35k Model 3 exists? Regardless of the type of seats, the 35k Model 3 is being delivered, picture that. Your stated concern is that you want to save people from being misled by Tesla over differences between the SR and SR+ versions. To save yourself a lot of worry, go online and compare the differences in both price and features between the SR and SR+ models, and then decide for yourself which one best meets your needs. That is what everyone else is doing.

Its real simple. Im complaining because i was told it had cloth seats and it doesnt, never did and never will and i based my purchasing decision.
Geez i already own an EV...yeah i coming on here to dissuade ppl from buying an EV.
Theres no conspiracy here, its a fact i was mislead.
I dont care about upgraded features after the fact.

Yes, all of the Plus buyers were misled. It's a fact, not an opinion. Tesla outright lied about the existence of the SR.

I'll stand completely corrected if they present evidence to the contrary, like hundreds of thousand of parts (intended for the SR) languishing in a warehouse.

Otherwise, it was deception, plain and simple.

They making up for it, apparently, but only time will tell. The Model 3 IMHO is still the best car in the world.

It has nothing to do with deception.
At some point they did a calculation, they have said they had 6 times the number of SR+ orders as SR. They weighed the cost saved minus the time lost by going forward with their plan for the SR interior.
At some point the accounting folks ran the numbers and decided it was actually cheaper (and probably by a lot) to just give the cheaper cars a "free" upgrade. They knew their owners probably wouldn't complain, and in the end it was cheaper for Tesla to do that.

Now, if over the next 5 years, they're going to continue to sell an SR model, then it will eventually make fiscal sense to go with the cheaper interior option, but more than likely the SR will end up discontinued in a couple months.

I won’t buy in to the conspiracy theories with all of this but I do admit something is fishy with the SR. They took a bunch of orders and began texting people to say their cars were ready and they issued delivery dates just a few days out. Then all of a sudden they sent out a second text saying that Tesla would not be able to deliver the cars on the dates they committed to and they would get in touch.

Then the configuration was changed completely to a software locked SR+. So what were they thinking when they texted confirmed delivery dates of the original cloth seat SR if they never even ordered parts for that car?

This is a frankly goofy level of presumption and justification that has zero evidence to support it and is contrary to all historical Tesla precedent and direct observation.

You don’t make decisions like this AFTER you’ve told the world you’ll start delivering cars in two weeks. Your sequence of events is a fantasy.

The precise reason they had “6 times the SR+ orders” is because they set up this inferior straw man option that never existed to make the SR+ that much more appealing in comparison.

What would the split be if they had been honest from the beginning and said the only significant difference was a software locked battery? Not 6:1, I guarantee it.

So, here's a delivered base level $36K Model 3 (they paid for blue paint). Turns out it's the partial premium interior, for free, with software locked battery and software limitations.

That's what you get if you order the off the menu Model 3.

So, it's real, it's out there.

I don't know how people missed the actual existence of deliveries of a real physical car.

Love Alex car reviews!

I don’t know how we got to page 3 with people still not understanding what is being discussed.
I started off at page one with someone complaining that someone claiming that something that exists, doesn't exists, and got to page 3 with people still saying that it doesn't exist. It's some kind of deception. A hoax. A bait and switch.

I'm a bit surprised that no one on this thread has started talking about a class action lawsuit.

Why is it, there is only one picture of the cloth seats.

Your not allowed to sue Tesla but they can sue ppl.
They got it all figured out.
Dont like the car, dont take it and thanks for the interest that we collected on your deposit money.

I asked the question because you would have to be the odd man out complaining that he got more then he paid for. I don't think it is any secret, Tesla would obviously prefer to sell nothing but fully loaded Performance models. But the model 3 was supposed to offer a decent EV at a reasonable price. I guess its here. I can't tell you why Tesla said this, and why someone else said something else, but anyone here following the discussion surrounding the Model 3 and its production wows for the last 2 years at least should realize by now that price and volume go hand in hand. So as one possible explanation, when Tesla opened orders for the base model, maybe there wasn't enough demand to make it work price wise. That is a guess, not a declaration of fact.

But on the flip side of the thread you started, the move to use a software lock to differentiate between the two bottom trim levels might been seen as marketing genius a few quarters/years down the road. By organizing the model line the way they have, Tesla still has the potential to up-sell any base model deliveries into SR+ cars. And before you knock Tesla too hard, why don't you go and compare the price difference between the different trim levels on the Nissan Leaf, or Chevy Bolt. I personally think Tesla has a much more compelling product line-up if we are talking strictly value/price.

If cloth seats are that important to you, go buy a set of cloth seat covers, and be content in knowing that Tesla threw you a bone when it comes time to sell.

It is nice to come out of a hole once in a while.

Its pretty plain and simple, when i get misled, by both Delivery Specialists (multiple) and the website, i dont get paid off that easily.
Im not sweating it, ive cancelled and waiting on a return of the deposit funds now.
Ill revisit Tesla, when they are ready for primetime and when they get their Blue Screen of Death fixed.
