Homelink Now An Extra Charge

Ordered 5/21 delivered 6/19. No Homelink. A couple of emails later and they scheduled a service visit to install it at no charge. Based on talking to the service person on the phone, some memo has gone out.

I would say that anyone who got a car with Homelink on a June order is lucky.

I would also say that if you ordered on 5/31 or 5/30 there may be some arguing as I don't know when, exactly, on that day they made the change.

Yeah, when they remove content I am sure there is really no mention of it other than the fine print under the details of the Premium Interior equipment list. However, if Homelink was now added feature it would be blasted across the web page in big letters as a new incentive.

Same here, it seems that indeed an internal memo went out protecting those of us who ordered before the announcement was made. After being denied several times for the due bill, now I was told to schedule an appointment to get it installed as part of the due bill. I'm glad to see Tesla is doing the right thing.

I sent an email to the local delivery manager that handled my case during delivery. I told her that I heard there was an internal memo sent by Tesla with instructions on how to handle our cases, and she confirmed that and she added Homelink to my due bill.

I think if they want to make Homelink an accessory then fine but it should be $100 and something we can install ourselves.

There are also licensing fees involved to Homelink so it isn't all about the hardware cost. $300 is right in line with many other manufacturers that offer it as an option.

I wish they would have added a basic built in garage door opener... HomeLink is nice on our early 3 but just controlling it manually would be fine on our SR and keep it secure vs the old physical garage door opener in the car for someone to smash and grab and rob you.
