Was backing up the other day and wondered, what's the top speed in reverse? There's no technical reason it's different than the top speed forward, is there?

My only experience with reverse is backing out of the garage and parking spaces. It goes fast enough there.
You are right that technically it could be as fast as forward speed. However, remember, forward speed is software limited and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a software limit on reverse.

Maybe fast and furious will have a m3 going backward for some ridiculous scene. Perhaps Vin Diesel lost his ability to look forward cause of his bald head hitting the windshield and crack it so badly he can't see.

Our ELR seems unrestricted in R... it will give you full power and there's no speed limiter I've bumped into. I've gotten it up to 45 and that was scary enough
It might do the full top speed of ~110... I've not tried.-J

If there doesn't appear to be a limit, someone with a dyno should try it out.
We are going to the track again on Monday. While we're at it we need to see if the M3 will execute a clean J-turn.
