How long was your wait in line? (I think we were at the slowest store..)

My son and I needed one BBC roundup of the most famous football match ever watched on cell phone: Brazil one Germany seven ("Klose scores! Historical! Germany two Brazil nil! And Miroslav Klose is the alltime worldcup record goalscorer!" :D:D:D ) About 20 minutes later we put down our reservation ...:cool:

Regards from Germany

Josh

I've heard of "World Cup" babies (from victorious countries)... But I guess you had a Soccer Model 3 Reservation :p:D:D

Sacramento/Rocklin, CA. #7 in line, arrived around 6:00PM night before. When the store opened at 10:00 AM sharp, over 500 people in line. 7 reservation stations meant I was reserved around 10:03AM. They were very efficient! By 3:30PM the line as done. Total for the day around 4:00PM was close to 700. People arriving that morning were waiting on average 3 hours. A couple local news stations were live around 6:00AM. Surprisingly, the reporter from KCRA was very good, and was very accurate on Model 3 information.
Many of us in the local NorCal-Reno Tesla Owners and SacEV, volunteered to help orchestrate line control and information dissemination, freeing up the employees to take reservations. Thanks to Bonnie, Laura, and Omar et al, for organizing this. Laura and I discussed at 6:30 AM if the 80 copies of the Tesla trivia test she made for line sitters would be sufficient, but it was not even close. We provided donut holes and orange juice to those waiting in line while answering questions.
As a 13 month P85D owner it was a pleasure to sit in line, and help out. The day went off without a hitch.

Yeah, I was following Rocklin posts via @bonnie on Twitter. I even featured one of her tweets on my blog post.

I reserved at the Houston Galleria, I was 40-50th in line when the mall opened at 10:00, I was done and walking around the mall at 10:35.
Now comes the difficult part... waiting.

I was at the Toronto (Lawrence) location and it was awesome. Staff there was very good. Showed up for about 5:45am and was #42 in line. They let us in at 7am to lineup inside from the rain and took our reservations at 9am. I was out the door for 9:45am.

One of the confirmed early reservation places... I wonder how much sooner Canada deliveries start after US. (and whether BC gets it before ON)

"We got a lot of folks from San Bernardino and Riverside in Brea."

I drove from Riverside county to Plam Desert mainly to avoid the horrible 91 west slog. I actually test drove and ordered my Model S at the Brea mall store. The shorter lines at Palm Desert was a fringe benefit.

I went East to Buena Park and Brea, so that was against traffic, but understand the desire to go counter-traffic.

I went to the Santa Monica - 3rd Street Promenade Store right after I got off work. Arrived to the line at around 6:45am PDT with about 75 people ahead of me. After store opened at 10am, I got my reservation done by 10:40 am. I was pretty impressed how quickly the line moved!

That is impressive.

Dublin,CA was 69th in line arriving at 4:45am. Was done at 10:28am. There were 6 reservation takers that I counted (4 on iPads and 2 on imacs)

Seems inconsistent on what the count is for equipment for order taking.

Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall - Arrived 7 am and was handed ticket #88 by the infamous (to everyone there that day) "Ticket Guy." This was a non-Tesla person who had the foresight to bring a roll of raffle style tickets. Came in handy because security wasn't allowing a line in front of the store, or allowing anyone to gather in front of the store. When they did allow a line, everyone had a ticket and knew where to line up.

Made my reservation at approx. 10:25.

The store staff told me later the line pretty much died out at 2 pm and they estimated 800 reservations made by that time.

That "Ticket Guy" is pretty smart. Good line management. I guess Tesla can learn for Model Y.

I think I was at the slowest store. UTC San Diego. Got in line at 9;30 am, Was done at 2:30 pm. 5 hrs. There were hundreds of people ahead of me when I got there.

Depending on what number you were in line... That's about the same pace as Brea. We got in line at 9:15 AM and got out at 2:16 PM (also 5 hours)... However, proper count of time spent for purpose of Tesla speed is hours from the time the store opened (10:00 AM in Brea's case) and what position you are in line (we were 240-242) (and were lapped by @Mark Z who came by and went to Costa Mesa instead.)

@Ltespd Do you remember how many order takers you had?

Stopped by the Costa Mesa, CA location around 2:30 p.m. No one in line. Walked in and made my deposit and was gone in 5 minutes. I had heard that current owners would be prioritized based on when you took delivery of your Model S/X/Roadster so saw no reason to line up early. Our neighbor across the street went to the Mission Viejo, CA location at 8:00 a.m. and was in line for 3 hours.

That makes sense @Mark Z was at that location and got out as #220 by 1:30pm, I believe...

Got there at 10:30 and got out at 1:15. Should have arrived at 12:30 as there were only about 50 people behind me.

That's the worst... As slow as the line was at Brea, at least it grew behind us... :)

I reserved at the woodland hills, ca mall location. Got in line @ 2:45 am, second in line. Was the first one out at approx 10:03. The line was ridiculous behind me. It took me 4 min to walk to the end of the line, and I walk fast. 4-500 people easily.

I guess you got folks from Simi and points North? (like Brea got Riverside and San Bernardino folks).

As AEdennis mentioned earlier, I arrived at Brea about 9:20 AM to find the line with about 315 people. I estimate the line at 400 by 10 AM based on other reports. I had a feeling this line would move slowly.

My plan was to go to Fashion Island, but I stopped by Costa Mesa about 10:20 to check on the situation. 6 persons were taking orders and Tesla staff said every 30 seconds a person would enter. The line was at 244 when I got in line (30 minutes had expired, so 60 may have been served earlier). The estimate to be done by 12:30 PM worked perfectly, as the Tesla employees were processing the reservations as fast as possible (120 an hour).

Since Brea had 3 people taking reservations (4 later that day), I was able to return to Brea and chat with AEdennis and his family. It was an exciting day to reserve a place in line for an amazing new Tesla designed electric vehicle.

It was nice to meet all the new (to Tesla and EV) folks reserving for Model 3, but something about hanging with fellow Tesla fans as you @Mark Z The fact that you lapped us inspired my blog post (and this thread.)

I was there around 10:30 and there was at least 350 in line... got out around 1pm and there was still a few hundred in line.
I believe the store had around 500 swipe their card by 1pm.

And I'm sure some of those swipes were for 2 Model 3 reservations and not just 1.

Arrived Sacramento Rocklin at 8:40 and was 245 in line; done at 12:15

That's about 2 hours faster than us and we were 240-242 at Brea.

At the Tyson's Corner-Tyco Rd., Virginia store there must have been 6 order takers. To be honest, I was so excited I didn't pay much attention!

As slow as it seems our store was, I'm still glad to have lined up and did a little Tesla and EV advocacy to those that are joining us in ownership.

There was probably about 500 people at my store and i was about 200th. Opened at 9am and i probably got my reservation around 10:10? It went pretty quick!. Very efficient. They had 4 computers running at once.

Wow and they opened early. Which store again?

18 hours

Got in line at 4pm the previous day and was done with reservation at 10:02 on the morning of the 31st. I was 3rd in line at the Walnut Creek store.

There were 350-400 people in line when the doors opened at 10am. When I drove by after lunch at 12:30 there were still around 150 in line.

Your part of it was 18 hours... Tesla's part was 2 minutes for you!

I was at the other end of the Walnut Creek line, about #375 I'd guess. :( Got in line just after 10am and was done about 2pm- 4 people taking deposits. There was still 100+ people in line when I left.

That is still faster than me... We were 240-242 and out at 2:16 PM... You were #375 and out at 2:00PM

I went to the Palo Alto store (on El Camino NOT Stanford) and arrived around 7:45 or 8am. Based on what I heard, I was ~80th in line, and I was through the reservation process by ~10:20am. They had a pretty efficient set-up; I'd guess 10+ employees taking reservations on computers, iPads, etc.

That is pretty good.

Another who lined up in Montreal - in the rain! I drove in from Ottawa, arrived at 7:20 AM. Paid at 10:20 or so. Tesla guys were sharing their umbrella to those in line that didn't have one.

You guys deserve a medal... though I love some of the pictures from social media. It kept us thanking our blessings being in a nice climate controlled mall in Southern California.

Took us 2.5 hours at Yorkdale in Toronto.

What # in line?

Washington Square mall, Portland Oregon. Arrived at 7am (3 hours prior to opening) and landed about number 100 in line. Tesla brought cookies somewhere along the way. At 10 the line started moving, and by 10:50 I had my reservation. 3h 50m.

That mall looked very busy, wonder if you met up with the Transport Evolved crew? They were filming for their EV site.

I was in line @ Pasadena around 6:30am, I was #60 ish, I was also done at 10:30am.

After I walked out of the store, the line was wrapped around the block, for 2 corners.

The line defiantly got allot worse past 9am.

And that's in the middle of Old Town Pasadena... Did they have police assisting with the crowds? We had mall security in Brea.

Oak Brook center Chicago subsurbs. Got there about 9:15 reserved about 11:30. Estimate about 200 hundred in front of us when we arrived. They had one person on a computer and one person on a tablet taking reservations. I got the tablet person. I thought it went pretty quick.

You had LESS order takers and was completed about almost three hours faster than us (we were 240-242 in line and out at 2:15 PM with THREE order takers)

Guess I'm glad we were in Texas by mistake for this. Arrived at Galleria Houston at 930a to be told there were about 300 in line and all done by 1130a.

I was toying with a cross-country trip to reserve at an "Eastern Timezone store" for a California delivery.

Canoga Park-Topanga store. Arrived at 2:45am. Was 1st in line. At 10am we had ~300 people behind me.

Mall Security let you in at 2:45 AM! Wow a lot of folks at mall locations were kicked out until much later in the morning.

Columbus arrived at about 2:30 and was done in a few minutes. I walked the long way around assuming there was still a line but nope!

How few were in line at your location?

Vancouver. In line at 6:15am, 48th in line according to those already there. Done by about 10am. Very glad to have taken part this way.

What time did they start? Was this another 9am store? Vancouver, Canada or Washington?

Got to Newport Beach ~8:00 am, and was approx. 115 in line. Line likely tripled by 10 am (but just guessing...). I was complete with the res by 11:05 am.

That's fast. How many order takers?

Yeah I was there at 2:30am, circling, kept getting booted by security three times, finally went for breakfast at 4am. Came back at 5:30 and yep security caved and allowed the line to form. By that point, I was 14 in line, but I think because of the way they handled the multiple registration points once the store opened, I may have been number 7 registered and out the store.

I believe there were more than 500 in line by 10am, but they had 7 registration points, three iMacs, and 4 tablets. So the line I'm told was handled shortly after 1pm. Not counting all the walk-ins after that. Process was very efficient, about a minute per person (with no hiccups).

Here's the line outside at 9:45am (not counting the 60 of us that were allowed to wait inside) sped up 2x

That is much faster than ours. Seven order takers is like a huge supercharger location versus some of the 2 stall configurations.

The Orlando location is a freestanding dealership located on a cul-de-sac type street with two other dealerships - Mini and Land Rover.

Thanks... That's what my first choice was, but no place to park within an easy walk, so I went to our alternate location (the slow one that is the subject of my blogpost and this thread.)

San Diego UTC...We were done 12 minutes after the store opened. But I have to add the 13.5 hours in line when the store wasn't open (actually it was open until 9PM). Someone had talked to the staff--they were expecting 10-12 employees, and there were perhaps that many, but only 3 or 4 reservation takers. Don't know how that happened, but as someone suggested, maybe that's all the working tablets they had. We were 32nd by head count, but we should realize that it ranged from a pair of people reserving one car, to one person reserving two. It seemed to go rather quick once the doors opened.

There were about 60 in line by midnight, 120 by daybreak, and then it took off from there. 300-500 when the store opened, and a lot of people are saying 1000-1500, but I don't know how they would have counted. I got no sleep that night, and ended up chatting with another group that wasn't sleeping either. I had planned to show up at 8 or 9 AM, but at 6PM the previous evening, my wife suddenly got the bright idea of heading down right away. And so I suddenly found myself witnessing a part of history.

I heard that the Mission Valley mall kicked people out until morning, but I have no confirmation of that.

Yeah. Lots of malls kicked people out and prevented overnight and early morning line ups.

...The fact that you lapped us inspired my blog post (and this thread.)...
This goes back to the Apple iPhone days when the line at Brea was so long that I decided to drive to Fashion Island. It turned out the wait was much shorter for the iPhone at that location. Driving south worked again for a Model 3 reservation. Costa Mesa was suggested by a Product Specialist at the Brea store prior to March 31 since many would not think of it as a store location.

Sorry, messed up that last post (used to a different forum software).

It was Vancouver, Canada and I had my exit time wrong. They let people in at 10:00am and I was done by 10:32. At 48th in line it means they were doing better than one person per minute.

Buena Park CA store opens at 9 am, an hour earlier than most other So. Cal. stores. I arrived at 8:30 about 300-400 in line. 9:10 am a guy who was in line since midnight had his order in. There were 5 or 6 employees taking orders and I got done just after 11 am. The line then had 150-200 people still waiting.

3.5 hours. The line was very long 700+. 6 order takers.

With six order takers, still moved pretty fast.

9am opening. Man, I was there maybe 8:50am before making the drive to Brea... Oh well

So, it's been over a week and like over 100k+ other people, I stood in line for the Model 3. We were 240-242 (thanks for the count and some of your pictures @Mark Z ) in line and waited five hours from the time we arrived.

After reading what people experienced in their lines and talking with fellow Model 3 reservation holders, I wondered...

If the line we were in at Brea Mall (California) was the slowest during Model 3 Release Day

We were in line from 9:15 am and was done with our reservation at 2:16 pm (here's the blog).

How fast or how slow was the line you were in on 3/31?

I arrived at 9:15 one day prior to registration and I was the second in line at Dublin Store. Waited 25 hours !
