How old 12v new install is acceptable?

Just curious… had mobile service come by and install a “new” 12v battery. Date is 8/1/23, manufactured 6 months old. I know in the past at the auto parts I would always look for 1 to 2 month old batteries to purchase. Just hate the ideal of a battery sitting on the shelf for 5 months to half a year.

Could you be more specific about the type of battery this is? Lithium or lead acid? I think that might make a difference, but I’m not entirely certain.

Yeah the lead acid 12v, I didn’t even think of shelf life for lithium.

I would not be concerned. The battery would have likely been sitting in a benign environment and had no electrical stresses on it.
