Is it better to get a Used Model X 2016 or 2017?

We have a 2012 Mercedes GL and have been thinking about moving into a Model X. We would be sacrificing some trunk space, but I think we are okay with that loss. I am excited about the gas savings plus helping the planet from my end.

I've been on www.TeslaCarSearch.com (something I built while back), to find used Model X. I see that prices for 2016 and 2017 are sometimes off by several thousand dollars. I don't know why? What's better in the 2017 compared to 2016?

Can you help?

Plan is to surprise the wife with this car before Christmas.

2016 was the first year and with the 90 battery. Later cars had better batteries (less degradation) and were built a bit better. Late 2016 onward had early AP2 hardware.

Q4 2016 was the start of AP2.0. 2017 was the start of 100D versions. After that was AP2.5 around August 2017. No model years. Tesla just adds stuff whenever it's ready.
