But, technically isn't it the P90D that you can drive too hard and the P will fall off?

With the P100DL the P supposedly doesn't fall off.

The language used to make customers aware that Tesla can adjust the performance of cars without the customer's consent is not restricted to the P90DL. Given that they adjusted power without consent or notice the first time, it is not a stretch to think they will use the broad notification language to adjust power on the P100 now is it?

It is called an erosion of trust which is what naturally occurs when you behave as Tesla has. Tesla has less leverage with each new customer (a little less early adopter tech savvy and a little more main stream car buyer) so trust and reputation become more important, not less.
