I was headed north from Jal to Eunice... look what I found!
Wonder how those following safety truckers feel driving right behind those nozzles.
It's entirely possible they don't even know what they're escorting. It's so heavy wrapped most of the contours are barely visible and I didn't see a single Space X logo...
Wish I could take credit for the photo. It passed me before I could get a shot and I was running low on battery so I didn't want to follow. I called a friend in Andrews and he took some photos as it passed.
My friend in Andrews that took that photo just got his Model 3 yesterday. I like to think his car thought 'HOLY CRAP A FALCON 9' and the F9 thought 'HOLY CRAP A MODEL 3'
Tried to get him to get a shot with the car in the foreground but thought of it too late
A layman who has no clue might thing it is a big pipeline or something..
I sent the photo to a friend that should have known what it was and he guessed wind turbine tower...
It was the carrier more than the cargo that gave it away when I saw it. Then the back end... are those 9 merlin engines or are you happy to see me?
If you found it, do you get to keep it?
Tried. The fellers in the vests from the pilot cars weren't having it...
That is going to be, by far, the slowest trip of that rocket's life.
The rocket and a few dozen pissed off Texans Wonder if that's why the entire thing was scrubbed of any Space X logo.
The speed limit on that road is ~75 IIRC. I think the convoy was moving at ~40.
Man, great hypermiling conditions.
I'm not sure what booster that is. Which direction was it headed? If it was heading east, then it's probably B1048 headed for McGregor. Everyone has been wondering what is up with B1048 since it's taken so very long to show up.
That's a big find. Nice job.
Yep. Headed West. I got a text at ~9am that it was spotted on I-20 near Abilene.
Someday I hope to see F9 boosters being moved with the Tesla Semi. It surely has enough torque, and at 40mph it should have adequate range.
That driver must get bored. Autopilot would be very helpful.
+1... AND Tesla Pilot Cars!
Plenty of room on the trailer for more batteries.
I've heard of them passing through Seminole. I'm from Hobbs way back myself and still go there on occasion.
Your picture and information has gone SpaceX community viral. Way to go. You were the first person to spot the new Block 5 booster that everyone has been waiting to see. It was an important find.
