What version are you running now ?I love seeing this thread still alive. Is anyone here willing to help me learn to get root?
2019 Model 3 SR+ 2023.20.9.What version are you running now ?
I’m only familiar with rooting model S/X MCU1, sorry, I’m no help.2019 Model 3 SR+ 2023.20.9.
No problem! How is it done in MCU1 on those? Out of curiosity.I’m only familiar with rooting model S/X MCU1, sorry, I’m no help.
Depends on firmware version. Below 2019.4 you just grab saccess keys (SSH passwords) and get persistent root with something like lunars or freedomEV. After 2019.4 the easiest way to do it is with squashfs patches, but you have to patch boot for that.No problem! How is it done in MCU1 on those? Out of curiosity.
share some knowledge with the rest of us pleaseI have a guide on rooting model3 mcus made before 2020 and confirmed it works.
Hello, can you you advise how to root mcu1 S? I downgraded the firmware and need to stop checking updates my car.I’m only familiar with rooting model S/X MCU1, sorry, I’m no help.
How low did you downgrade? You need 2020.36 to root easily.Hello, can you you advise how to root mcu1 S? I downgraded the firmware and need to stop checking updates my car.
What’s so special about 2020.36? Any key changes in SPI? Can you downgrade if you’re on post 2023.6?How low did you downgrade? You need 2020.36 to root easily.
the gateway is crypto locked and ssh to cid /tegra no longer accepts password or local id_rsa ssh key logins after 2020.36.What’s so special about 2020.36? Any key changes in SPI? Can you downgrade if you’re on post 2023.6?
@LayZ is your man, but don’t expect him to reveal his secrets. I can tell you he’s fair and reliable.Hello, can you you advise how to root mcu1 S? I downgraded the firmware and need to stop checking updates my car.
Do you get a link light? Do you get anything with tcpdump?I tried posting earlier but included a link, and I think that may have flagged it for moderation, so I'll try again sans link.
I'm trying to debug a faulty MCU1 that will not power on its screen.. I believe the emmc may be bad on the tegra chip (i have 3 separate chips and they're all doing the same thing ~0.9amps @ 12v, but not screen displaying). I'm attempting to use a HSD cable from Amazon (supposedly works with tesla) to link between the IC Ethernet port and my diag cable, but am not able to ping.
I'm thinking the cable I purchased on Amazon may be incorrect, any help here would be great! Also, if any knows what the part number is for the actual cable in the car, I may just order it through tesla directly.
Unfortunately, no link light at all.Do you get a link light? Do you get anything with tcpdump?
I'd suggest using the link light as your "Step 1" before worrying about the display lighting up.Unfortunately, no link light at all.
Yeah it was a bad tegra chip but I have one that works fine now. Still cannot connect via the Amazon hsd cable. The diag cable (hsd->eth) works fine as I’ve tested it in my own car.I'd suggest using the link light as your "Step 1" before worrying about the display lighting up.
Could be:
Probably in that order.
- Bad Tegra board (more specifically the eMMC on the Tegra board)
- Insufficient/bad/dirty 12v power (quality power supply?)
- Incorrect/bad Fakra/HSD cable (has it ever worked?)
- Main board in the MCU
