Interesting comparison. I've always thought the Nissan zero-emission logo was a construct of a power button and the letter 'e' - but that doesn't explain the blue color.

Hmmm.. I heard part of a marketing talk some years ago that said blue was the new green. Supposedly there was some "green fatigue" and blue is associated with clear skies, clean air, etc.

Even Daimler went with BlueTec for it's urea additive based cleaner diesel engines. Perhaps because Go Yellow was already taken by the ethanol folks...

Blue is the most trusted color. For the last 3 decades major financial companies have converted their logo to blue.
Color In Design: Singing The Blues
Combining light blue and dark blue, sometimes referred to as bankers colors, has connotations of stability, trust, power and strength which is why it is used so frequently in corporate designs.
