For sure 70D is more efficient for highway driving as per recent testing by Bjorn Nyland, however, winter is a different story, nothing beats more kWh in reserve for cabin/battery heating.

As reference, 2013 S85 with 375 km at 90% after 80000 km. Having 30 km more is a fair extra margin for long trips. Given the CHAdeMO rollout in Ontario in 2017, and building out across Quebec since 2015, it may be that even a base battery 60 kWh Model S would be a reasonable choice next year.
