Ah yes.

The range bump pretty much confirms the heat pump and octovalve (I keep hearing that but have no idea what it is). Have people found heat pumps to make a massive difference in winter? I had an i3 without one and didn't feel compromised, but I wasn't doing long distances regularly.

If you can preheat at home anyway, it'll probably not make a load of difference - given that the SR+ is getting a 5% bump this seems likely. I wonder if some of the bump is coming from a change in battery chemistry and/or software.

Difficult to know for sure, could be that in cold weather the improved range is 15+% but in WLTP it only comes out as 5% for the SR+.

We just need the youtubers to come along and overstate things for views, then pick a position along the spectrum o_O.

I will wait for the HW4 update before I upgrade

if I say it enough I'll convince myself.
I must admit to having some upgrade envy right now, but I always do with this stuff.

Have to remember that these cars are pretty much like phones now, they will constantly evolve and there will be occasions where the changes are significant enough to give pause for thought. I've done just over 650 miles in my Model 3 since getting it in March, due to lockdown and a change to working from home full time, and the majority of that mileage has been taking it places to get things done to it :)

I think I would be more gutted if I had got the car recently though. If I were waiting for a car now and had already been allocated one (i.e. a MY2020 car) then I'd definitely hold fire until I could get this one.

Only thing I see no mention of is the double glazing. Good range bump for the Performance, 23 miles or around 7%, the rivals such as the Poelstar already had poorer range due to extra weight and drag so it only increases the Model 3's advantage. Bit gutted as mine has less than 2000 miles due to the lockdown (although getting the grant makes up for it a good bit as the refreshed one would really cost me £3500 more). The very slight decrease in 0-60 time may be due to the design of the wheels? The new ones are more filled in so less drag which may also be part of the range increase, although your not going to see much of those lovely red calipers with the new design.

Yeah I think the phone analogy is right. You have to accept that your car will have improved variants in the not too distant future. You will benefit to some degree with software updates

I picked up mine 3 weeks ago but don’t feel I’ve lost out on these upgrades. The inventory ones were 3k cheaper for 99% the same car so I think it’s fair enough

I'm into tech and took delivery of an SR+ three weeks ago.

So, my view - well the first batch of new cars will be a 70 plate so don't ask don't tell any future buyers right?

Ignoring that, I'm still chuffed with the car. benefits of a mature manufacturing line etc (plenty of tech people buy the most mature of an old socket for processors when they're building out a server for this reason and a car needs to function at its peak for 5+ years).

The improvements here would be nice, obviously but ultimately I'm not too worried - at worst I'd expect the depreciation to fall back to "normal car" levels, but that would be a surprise because Tesla are the only manufacturer to roll out significant updates to older cars via OTA software.

They have updated the picture of my car on order to have what look like the new wheels but weirdly it still seems to have chrome trim.

Same for me. I'm hoping that it's just a thing on their end, having not updated the images in the back-end of the site. If anyone orders a new M3 today, it would be interesting to see!!

Edit: Just noting. On the UK site, the M3 is missing the Auto-Dimming side mirrors. On the US site, the M3 is listed with auto-dimming mirrors once again

Well, if I bought the exact same car it would cost £2,490 more than I paid, that's plenty to get a wireless charger, chrome delete and a third party electric boot opener. It feels fair to me as an early adopter.

I can also enjoy my frunk mat, bag hooks, 16A commando connector, Homelink and dimming side mirrors.

Having just had the ranger replace the 5th rear light unit this morning, and a previous 2 ranger and 2 SC visits it's in a better condition than ever.

It's not clear whether the aero covers are still covers or aero wheels... thoughts? I prefer the old aeros (less 'sharp'), prefer the chrome, like the frunk hooks and have never had a power boot so don't care too much about that either! Heat pump and the extended range / performance would be nice tho (LR).

The performance boost is showing the new times for current cars, so I assume the speed changes are software.

I'd guess that the range changes are a combination of heatpump(?) and software.
Re the performance boost, I wondered if along with the heatpump from the Y, the new 3 was also getting the Y motors which are a little different in design. Some YouTubers such as DragTimes and Munro Live (who know their stuff) do reckon the Y Performance makes more power than the 3 Performance.

As far as this refresh goes I'm a fan of the insulated windows for noise suppression and I like the heat pump benefits. They are good updates for new owners but that's about it I think. Certainly not enough to convince me to upgrade at this point. I actually prefer the chrome vs black trim and as I've spent enough money on PPF, ceramic coating on my current Model 3 I reckon I'll stick with it for at least the 4 year warranty period.

I think the new performance wheels look naughty and one red I think the lack of chrome looks good. But as a few have said, I got 5k off due to quarter push and I'm happy, can always do chrome delete etc. Not too keen on the console change, has the cover over the charger gone, can't tell

Yeah, the cover's gone, a few leaked photos from last week seemed to show that to be the case

Yep me too. Nice improvements on the whole but nothing revolutionary.
I've actually come to quite like the chrome trim. I thought it would be the first thing I did but aside from carbon side camera covers to match the carbon wing mirrors, I'm not as yet deleting the rest. I fitted the powered boot and I like I can flip the lid down to cover the phone and keep that clean look.
4 years sounds about right to me. By then, we will probably have the new battery technology and fully cast front and rear so lighter too. I'd like a hatch without having to go to the Y.

I don't think my order has been updated with the new wheels and chrome delete..... :-(

Just got this email through just now. Seems we're getting the latest models

Edit: Just got off the call with the Delivery specialist, he's said all Right hand Drive cars have the new Trim. The only models that are a bit up in the air are LHD, Standard Range +'s as there's a mix of both!
