M3P+ Tires load index on 18'' size Vs 20''

Hi Folks,

I have P3D+ (20'' etc..) and I am looking for tires in 18 inch size (I have the wheels already). One thing that bother me is that there is no mention about the load index that I should take. My current 20'' michelin has a 92 load index so I assume that if I get 92 and + (in 18inch format) I will be fine correct ? I know the 18'' on non performance comes 98 index and I am unsure about why.

Thanks
Bo

IMO a 92 load rating is low for this heavy car, I changed the tires out on my RWD LR that came with 19" sports to 255/40/19 Continental DWS06 and they have a 100 load rating which feels much better than the stock Conti's 96 load rating, the reason OEM 18's are a 98 load rating is because they have plenty of sidewall and the lower profile tires like the 20's just cannot support that load even in a XL load rated tire so 92 is what you get.
