Members online - Robot count?

I never noticed this before but today I see there are almost as many robots currently on TMC as there are members.

Does anyone know what these robots are? Are there really that many bots crawling the site at any given time or are these robots different than search engine bots?

Search engine and indexing bots crawl the web 24/7, and rapidly changing sites such as TMC (sites where content changes by the second) are crawled extremely frequently.

I guess I just never thought about how many bots would be connected to the site (on multiple threads) simultaneously so I was surprised by the large number.
