Michigan home delivery question

Tesla staff is not permitted to do deliveries in Michigan, so they are all done via third party carriers. Your car will arrive on a car carrier and the driver will hand you the keys. If you want the full delivery experience, you have to go to Chicago or Ohio.

Has taken home deliver of a Model 3 in Michigan?
If so, was there a delivery specialist with the car to go over it’s features?
How was your experience?
Thanks!
Our Model X was delivered by a third party two years ago who spent almost 2 hours setting up the car for us and showing us the features so even though a third party is doing the delivery, they are very knowledgeable. We picked up our Model 3 in Cleveland in April just so we would be able to meet the people at the store. Both experiences were very satisfying and gave us the info we needed.

Thanks for the information. Looks like our car will be going to the Chicago store (6 hrs drive) and not Cleveland (7 hrs drive) from northwest Michigan. Sounds like you were ok with third party driver and car arrived in good condition. I’ll look at some of the walk through videos that Tesla recommends to see how comfortable I am with home delivery vs the hassle of getting to Chicago and back.

Haven’t received it yet.
My understanding is that it has to be ( or is in the process of being) shipped to Chicago (Highland Park store) and then a transporter will be contacted there to deliver to my home. I tried calling the Highland Park home delivery specialist (option 4) several times over several days to ask some questions with 0 success and no call back within 24hrs as promised in recordin*. I finally allied and pushed the “sales” button and got an almost immediate response and talked to a very helpful sales associate who took the time to answer my questions or find someone who could if he didn’t know the answer.

Mine is supposed to be in Cleveland early next week. I am waiting to make final payments until they approve the car through inspections. Then they will put it on a truck to me in Bay City.

Mine is due for pickup in Chicago Highland Park on Monday. Then it’s supposed to be shipped to northern Michigan (Rapid City). It’s paid for and scheduled for ppf (XPEL) in Grand Rapids in October.
I’m getting mine in Arrest-me-Red which is what I think the paint color should be called. VIN assigned, car insurance done, 14-30 plug in garage and now just fingernails to chew.

Don't forget to buy a 14-30 adapter. The car comes with a 14-50.

Thanks. That’s done too. 14 30 adapter in hand with single Tesla lightening phone cable as well. I want to see if the second USB port can be used to charge iPador kindle inside the console. Lots of options to test when the car comes.

One requirement is to name the car like any other network device. That was entertaining to consider. Currently, I’m going to name it “Ruby”. Short simple and apt.

I got my home delivery today. It came in a 90 foot covered truck. It is pristine. No scratches, no dings. I haven’t examined the paint everywhere yet but it seems fine.

Home delivery worked well for me.

It came with a temp Illinois plate for 30 days and I paid no taxes yet. When I register it with Michigan, I’ll pay the local state taxes.

I'd hope that getting there would be a hassle, but getting back would be an adventure. ;)

Mine has been in Cleveland for over a week. It is paid for in full. I still have not heard anything about them shipping it to me. Because I chose home delivery I was told I cannot go pick it up.

I did. In hindsight I wish I wouldn't have. Delivery date was changed multiple times from much earlier to earlier to original date to later to much later and ended up 1 day late (we were notified of the last date change the same day they were delivering by a non-Tesla truck driver, no one at Tesla ever called. At that point I was expecting a much later date but thankfully we were able to be there).

If you pickup the app is turned on immediately from what I understand. For delivery there is a delay. First I was told 24-72 hours, when that passed I was told 3-5 days. Now I'm told they cannot even give me an ETA. I'm going on a week and I can't even get someone to return calls for help. Finally one guy called it a "back end bug" and said engineers were working on it. Then he vanished without a trace so I have no idea when I'll get full functionality.
