The few times I used my card to unlock the car, due to the phone not unlocking, it has locked when walking away after. But I also did not use the card to start the car, it was back in my wallet and in my pocket before I got into the car. The time to get in the car seemed like enough for my phone to connect as the key, so didn't need the card for that. Not sure if maybe that has something to do with it, as I haven't tested different ways to see if it would lock or not.
