Will this wheel and tire package work on a MYP?

The description specifically says NOT compatible but believe I have seen some MYP’s with these wheels. Can I get 100% confirmation they will work before ordering. They go in and out of stock. TIA

Tesla's statement that the Gemini wheel, winter tire package is not compatible with the Performance Model Y may have come from Tesla's Legal department due to liability concerns. The top speed of the Performance Model Y is 155 MPH. The Pirelli Sottozero 3 winter tire has a speed rating of V (149 MPH.) The other tire listed for the 19" Gemini wheel and winter tire package is the Michelin X-Ice Snow tire with an H speed rating (130 MPH).

It is not unusual for winter tires to have a lower speed rating than all-season or performance summer tires. Usually this is not an issue unless you plan to race using winter tires. Should someone purchase the winter tire package and install the tires on a Performance Model Y, then in the event of tire failure they could, in all probability, sue Tesla and win for selling tires that were not safe for the Performance Model Y when driven at the limit.

In Europe your are allowed to have winter tires that have speed index two categories lower than the one for summer tires:

Speed rating "Y" is standard for the MYP, so in Europe ((but also worldwide in fact) "V" will be suitable for winter tires. One can safely drive 240 kph or 149 mph with a V, even driving 5 % quicker (top speed of MYP) would be a non-issue.

I think the big question is whether or not the wheels fit with the cAlipers. Who the hell cares about max speed. If your going to be driving >120mph in these tires, your crazy.

Well, we (the hell) in Europe (or at least in least Germany) do care about the max speed.

Many videos/photos online, even on this forum, where it has been proven, that the Geminis do clear the P calipers.

This seems very pragmatic.

Wondering if MYP owners in the US have been able to get any of the larger tire chains to sell and install V or lower rated snow tires on their car? Seems like a liability issue that in a "frivolous lawsuit that allows people to abdicate common sense and get paid" environment, would cause a lot of chains like Discount/Americas Tire to balk at even offering.

Didn’t the early performance Y’s have a stealth option that came with the Gemini wheels? Makes me think they fit just fine.

Bigger confusion is why Tesla would say they are not compatible. Legal theory makes sense but most people getting winter tires know not to push a vehicle without proper tires. Common sense <> lawsuits.

Stealth MYP were called stealth because they only had the motor upgrade, not the rest of the jewelry like fancy pedals, spoiler, lowered suspension, 21 inch Ubers, higher speed, and bigger brakes. They did come with 19 wheels, but the brakes were the same as LR models.

I can confirm that the 19" Gemini Wheels fit on the MYP just fine. I swapped over from the 21" Uberturbines to Pirelli Sottozero winter tires mounted on 19" Geminis this past Sunday. Installation of the wheels was easy and it only took about a mile of driving for the TPMS on the Geminis to sync up with the MYP.

Drove through last winter with summer tires on 21” wheels but didn’t go out when weather was bad. Will be much more confident this year.

Got the MYP in September and haven’t tried it in the snow. It’s running all seasons, Continental ProContact RXs. Rides nice. So much so, I put 19” ProContacts on my Plaid as well.
