Did some more extensive testing last night:
- Autopark shows availability when the back of the car is at least 0.5 to at most 1.5 parking spaces past the spot
- any 2 lines around parking-sized spot are good enough -- ignores handicap and crosshatch markings
- usually ignores corner spots (i.e., line only on one side) but I did get it to work once when there were only 2 spots (e.g., 1 line between 2 curbs)
- works parking towards both the left or right -- need to drive closer to that side
- even works for angled parking spots (e.g., drive the wrong way down the aisle and it'll back in usually in 1 pass)
- also works for driving the correct way past the angled spots, but it usually takes 3 back-forward adjustments
- must drive forwards past the spots (can't reverse towards the spot -- who would do that anyway! )
- although if you go too far past (1.5 spaces), you can reverse to retrigger availability
