Model Y Uberturbine wheels on a Model X

Pig?

Agreed, these tires do have a bit of stretch but I got basically brand new for $500 w/ 1k on them so I'm definitely gonna use them until they're dead before jumping up to something like a 265F/285R.

Two wheels are have a little rash, dude bought some T Sportline 20's for his Y and they've curbed them as well. Thankfully I'm used to wider and flusher wheels so don't worry about.

It's from Babe, a Jim Cromwell movie about talking animals, get some culture dammit

I'm pleasantly surprised how good it looks with the OE Y tires, was worried they'd look dinky but it's totally fine and yeah the Y owners seem to be desperate to get rid of these for peanuts around here too, not $500, but for well below the cost of even a couple of tires for a whole set

I find the key to avoiding curb rash is to not hit the curbs :p . It's amazing how many new tesla owners must have been parking by feel in their Hihglanders and Malibus

My bad, my bad lol

I'm quite happy with how they look as well...the price being a factor as well :)

My GF's curbed one wheel on her 535cut that has some forged 20's on it...now she parks like a foot away from the curb lol. I should have taken a picture of the parking job she did yesterday in my 740iL, it looked something like _ _ _ / :-D

The BMW dealer by me had a wheel-eating curb right by the service bay, one of those that grabs you unsuspecting because it juts out right where you'd normally cut the wheel while backing out. I guess they finally had porters kill enough wheels on the dealership's dime that the money they were making off customers doing it to their own cars wasn't making up for it. I once hit it hard enough to learn in a loaner, and thankfully learned that lesson on somebody else's suspension arms lol

Really does look great. I get the feeling the Y summer pirellis are still a lower rolling resistance tire than the ol' conti do-nothings, but I guess you'll have to do some math if you want to know the answer to that very important question, otherwise you won't know if you have RUINED THE CAR by tinkering with Elon's holy design. In before one of the Doge Priests arrives to remind you you may have to spend up to THREE EXTRA MINUTES at the supercharger on a road trip heh

I've got a wheel killer here at work that most wouldn't notice unless they were paying attention since the curb comes to a point vs a round. Fortunately 1st shift has left so I get my favorite end spot where I've snapped pics of most of my other cars :)

This is all I have at the moment for side profile pics. I still haven't installed my MacBoost camber arms or eBay lowering links yet.

Not a bad look for the X, but the Ubers are just so damn HEAVY, and that's before adding the spacers/adapters.

They weigh more than even the 22" X wheels in the fronts, surprisingly less on the larger rears. Guess you do gain the extra rim protection and a slightly better ride with the extra sidewall.

I've been researching Uberturbines for my PX. Loved them on my PY and figured they may be a little more aero than many of the aftermarket wheels and good for winter tires.

Found some replicas on Tesery, but now the S/X are no longer listed and only for 3/Y. I wasn't impressed with their online sales, which tried to get me to buy another wheel style when I mentioned a square setup and how to buy replacement wheels, then eventually no reply from them.

Last night I came across Ubers for the S/X from StarFlyTesla, likely from the same factory as Tesery, and after several emails, I'm ready to buy. They can get me a square setup of 20x9's (20*9J) in gunmetal gray, which is considered a custom order, but still competitive ($1,860 for 4) with their published prices ($1,959). (A little cheaper due to not buying wider rims.)

Down side? 20-30 day delay for custom order. Individual replacement wheels will be more expensive and possibly won't be in stock for immediate delivery.

Plus side? Lighter wheels that fit without adapters, but I will want rear spacers to bring those squared wheels out more. Also narrower wheels so less chance of curbing them and a softer ride.

I would have loved to pursue a 19" wheel, but why ask for trouble? Besides, always good that both sets of wheels (summer/winter) are 20".

Not a bad idea. Would be more cost efficient to grab used MYP rims and adapters though. I just put on some new tires that actually fit and they look good, ride great and are less likely to get curbed (a little) lol

My problem is there aren't any locals selling the wheels and the ones I see are about the same price, with summer tires that don't fit, or curbed and 200 miles away.

Yeah, they're not light by any means but I didn't expect them to be since they're cast wheels made in China.

Sorry to revive but i figured that's better than making a new one. I got the rims on. Macboost camber arm inbound. I think I'll hold off on lowering links. Want to see what the wheel wells look like with my next tires.
The picture I attached is pre-links and camber arms. I finally installed them all just this weekend, I went with an added 5mm to start and I'll see how it feels for the next few days. The car defaults to low, I prefer very low so I'm basically adjusting my ride height until the car sits 24/7 at the equivalent of very low since it defaults to low.

I used this imagine from N2Uitive as my guide for adjustment so I'm currently what they'd call Sports. The picture might be confusing with a - in front of the numbers, just know your adding length to the links to go lower. For example the stock front link was like 65mm long so the adjustable link is set to 70mm, back was like 80mm so the adjustable link is set to 85mm.
