Just changed my 12 volt battery at 40k miles. Surprised to find old mouse nest in void space under the battery. See picture. Probably warm there. I have since moved to a different house that doesn’t have a rodent problem. My last place had mice in the garage that I used to trap. Worth checking it out if you have rodents.
