It's obsolete. There's new one effective 12/1/2018:

"Model 3 with Standard or Mid-Range Battery - 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km), whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity* over the warranty period"

So if i understand this, if you battery retention is 69 percent within 8 years, you can get a new battery, but if you are 71% retention, work as is and no warranty? lol

Traditionally, Tesla would lend you a battery loaner while yours is repaired. Several months later, you go back to return the loaner and get back your repaired battery pack. It's seldom that you'll get a new battery.

I assume you both were quick to beat the publishing deadline of the new warranty coming out on 12/1/2018?

Mine also states 8 year 120k. Car was delivered Nov 21

All car manufacturers have some wiggle room for customer good will. If you are at 7 years 11months and 71% and taken good care of the car it is likely Tesla will help you out on the battery. I know folks who have had engine and transmission repairs covered when out of warranty from multiple brands.
Not that we have any 8yo cars to judge based on but with the S being 6yo we aren't really seeing evidence that 30% degradation is going to be anywhere near normal unless the new cell is a giant leap backwards from the cells the S and X use.

Correct - fills with over 200k miles have had less than 10 percent degradation. The degradation warranty for the 3 will essentially never be used.
Batteries do malfunction though - that's another issue

I ordered on the first day of availability. Delivered 12/15. So maybe that is why my warranty is longer on the MR.

As long as you got Long Range, you got 8 years or 120,000 miles (192,000 km), whichever comes first (including RWD, AWD, Performance...)

Model 3 with less than a Long Range would get 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km), whichever comes first.

However, as noted above, some have been grandfathered even though they don't have a Long Range.
