Tesla Warranty Transfer

On the warranty page (https://www.tesla.com/en_gb/support/vehicle-warranty) it mentions that "when a vehicle ownership transfer is performed through Tesla." the warranty still applies to the new owner. When purchasing second hand from a dealer, is there a way to check if a vehicle's ownership has always been transferred though Tesla and the warranty still applies?

Vehicle ownership transfer always goes through Tesla, regardless of how you sell the car, because only Tesla can associate the car with its new owner’s account. I think the point is that the warranty transfers to the new owner as long as Tesla knows there’s a new owner, and that has always been the case.

I believe the procedure in this case is to contact Tesla and request them to transfer ownership to you. It's not only for the warranty, but to get the car into your Tesla account and the app so you can remotely access it, schedule service, pay for supercharging, etc... You will probably have to show them documentation that you now own the car.

So long as you can prove ownership of the vehicle, the new vehicle warranty applies and is fully transferrable. There is no trickery or exclusion.
