Multiple gears coming in the Model S? Hint in the manual or typo?

That is really a stretch.
Common language tends to use the term "gears" when changing the setting. Doesn't matter if it is forward to neutral or reverse, or 2nd gear to 3rd gear in a stick shift car.

Ask anyone who isn't a drag racer to complete the sentence "When you change from Forward to Neutral in your car you are changing _____". I'm guessing "gears" would be the most common answer.

Multiple gears on a single motor would be foolish in an EV street car. For a dragster or race car, maybe.
 
yea, why would auto steer cancel when moving to then next gear (up) anyway...
