I wonder if anyone has the answer to this question, or if insurance companies are even able to do anything with it other than sell someone an additional accessory rider for their car or something. It can only be purchased after one takes possession of the car, Tesla specifically does not allow one to spec the car with it.
One would presumably have to contact their insurance company and tell them "I bought this 2k aftermarket upgrade and want it covered" and see what they come back with. Its likely not many people do that, but I wonder if anyone has?
