N 14-50 Mobile Charger Adapter Fault

Took delivery of Y LR one week ago. Using mobile charger for newly built & wired (June 2020) structure with NEMA adapter 14-50, installed by licensed electrician. Don't know which brand of receptacle he used. The first day it charged successfully, from ~70% to target 90%. Failed thereafter. Mobile charger is showing green lights "All on" and red light "5 flashes" which indicates an adapter fault. I've unplugged/replugged several times and the connection doesn't seem to be the problem. Successfully, if slowly, charging with 110V/15A through standard receptacle. Ideas/suggestions? Thank you.

Did you fully insert the adapter into the UMC?

Frequently the outlet face will have the manufacturer/model on it.

Other than that, it might be time to call the electrician. Its possible the wires at the back of the outlet have some problems, or perhaps the adapter itself has gone bad. See if you can find another 14-50 outlet to plug into so you can eliminate(or not) the outlet as the source of problems.

Thanks, yes, confirm adapter is fully inserted. Outlet face has no ID of any kind. Will check with another 14-50 as you suggest.

While probably not the cause of your current issue with the Tesla Mobile Connector and adapter, once you get this sorted out, don't let the Tesla Mobile Connector chassis hang supported by just the receptacle and the power plug adapter. Tesla sells a Cable Organizer that includes a wall mount bracket for the Mobile Connector chassis and a cable hanger for the charging cord. You can find similar organizer kits and mounting brackets on Amazon, eBay and Etsy or you can fashion your own hanger to take the strain off of the power plug.
