Is there a way to get the nav in the car to do a round trip and plan the supercharging stops on the way? I know there is programs on the net to do it, just wondering if the car can do it.

I don't believe the car can do waypoints yet (or at least haven't seen a way to do it).
When you put in a single direction, it will show you charging stops needed to get there. There is also an option to show you charge level for round trip but will not show charging stops for the way back - will just show you a negative charge level for the return trip.

You're not missing anything.
The car however is missing basic GPS features from 2004.
