New model 3 and aftermarket iphone cables

I recently got a M3LR and went to plug in some new iPhone cables I got from five below, they didn't work They work in my wife Jeep, not the tesla. I had an OG iPhone cable and it works in all 4 USB c ports.

Am I missing something or is something wrong with the car that I need service to take a look at?

and by "work" I mean just charging, not data. I know about that issue with the newer models.

Had the same issue. Had a mobile tech come because I thought the jack was inoperable. He told me the jack is very finicky and usually only work with Apple brand cords. Luckily I had a few laying around..

Thanks! I guess a charging cable is not always a charging cable is a charging cable.

Does anyone know what the actual difference between the cheapy's are and the official apple ones? I always thought it was just a bit of a quality degradation in materials, I didn't know there was a physical difference that changed the way the charger works.
